As you're using it for tagging it may be used on multiple tracks from the same Album with incorrect Album tags (and thus multiple album values). Furthermore although Auto-Tag from Amazon is limited to one Album other Auto-Tag from Web addons may not be (MusicIP Tagger was an example of that).

If Auto-tag from Web is designed to work on a single album at a time, is there a reason for it to be enabled with multiple albums selected? Would it make sense (or be possible) for it to gray out when more than one album is selected?

Oh i agree with you ... fingers still get burned BUT at least with a message that the user has to accept/decline gives an indication that the user has read the message (which of course they haven't) and gives developer/MM community some level of comfort that they have done all that can be done to help the user.

But fingers will still get burned.

Although I don't disagree with a warning (that users can disable) it won't prevent some from messing things up. The window already shows what will happen, there is already a warning if you're modifying many files and users still manage to ignore it.

Having just read through this thread, i am unsure why it is not possible to bring up a popup window stating the obvious, including the ever needed "DID YOU BACKUP YOUR DATA" warning.

When 1 user burns their fingers you can blame it on the user .. but when it keeps on happening sometime you have to protect the user from themselves. A popup, with optional 'dont show me again', that the user has to accept or decline is not a bad way to go

Thing is, I think MM does a pretty good job (also the script writers) of showing exactly what it is going to do before it lets you commit the change. Obviously it is frustrating after the fact to realize you didn't look closely enough before clicking OK.

I presume you used Auto-Tag from Web on all files and this feature does show the new tags prior to the user applying them. It would have shown the incorrect new tags.

i agree with newuser1003, i don't typically go to a forum looking for problems before i use new software, i just use it. i've had the same issue, a library of 6000 songs irrevocably destroyed, and there was no warning that clearly stated what was about to happen. yes it did ask if i really wanted to change all my songs, but that was what i was trying to do, to autocorrect my library. why would i suspect it would change every file to the same album and artist? who would want to do that with a large music library. it's irresponsible to leave such a programming capability in a music player marketed to the general public, most of whom are not coders. Mediamonkeys presence on this forum seems nonexistent, if they do monitor they certainly have not provided any helpful input. snarky comments from other users don't help either, shut up if you've not got a helpful response.

Solution for windows 7 users
Warning - you might lose some of your songs.

right click on the folder>properties>previous versions> select a date and then all tags will be restored.

Anything that we can help. Basically in most cases you need to recreate steps in reverse order to get things back, but one album at time.

thanks for all the people that mocked the user and the folks who ignored the fact that the process on what autotagging was, was not clear.
