Check the Auto-Conversion settings in the Device Profile and make sure it's not set to convert the file.

You can also try a manual convert on the file and see if that works or fails (narrowing down the problem).

The file type is .MP4 and it plays in MM. My android phone can play .MP4 files.

MMA is MediaMonkey for Android, and MMW is MediaMonkey for Windows. The free version of the codec is a time limited trial version, but the same otherwise.

Again the issue is with auto-conversion. Do you know what file (and thus File Type) the is on? If so, does that file play in MMW?

I guessed that the Codec Pack I downloaded from Addons was the free version and that I need to use the download I got at purchase to use the paid version. What I don't understand is what the difference is between the versions apart from the price. Put another way, which one should I be using to get MM to sync ?

Which version of MMA and MMW are you using? So on wifi sync MMW is the one that shows the error? You may want to look at your conversion settings, it looks like you're converting something.

Trying to sync between PC and Android phone. MediaMonkey started on both. I tell the phone MM to sync and the message "Error: MediaMonkey is unable to decode this format" pops up with the option "Find missing codec". Clicked on that, it took me to https://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/browse/item/ffdshow-codec-pack/ where I downloaded ffdshow_rev4532_20140717_clsid.exe and then installed it. The installation appeared to run OK but now when I re-try syncing I get the same error message "MediaMonkey is unable to decode this format". Tried restarting MM, -> same error message. Tried restarting the PC, -> same error message.

A couple of months ago I paid €12.12 for and downloaded MediaMonkey Codec Pack and installed it but MM continued to throw up that "MediaMonkey is unable to decode this format" error.

Can someone here tell me what to do next ?
