Re: StreamsTreeNode: Library subnode for your favourite streams

I've been using this script for awhile now and it is exactly what I wanted to create a ready to use list of streams I listen to regularly. My question is this, I understand that streams contain no locally stored mp3 files that would allow you to imbed album art to be displayed when the stream is started, but is there no way to modify this script to have it open
a locally stored jpg when a specific stream is started to display as the "album art". Is there any functionality in the scripting to say, hey when this stream is started, put the image located at c:\path\1.jpg up as the album art?

If anyone has any ideas or can at least point me in the right direction it would be appreciated!

Yes the script is simple (or at least it would be for a scripter, like I'm am NOT :) ) but is the closest thing I found to my wish, regarding the ability to add YOUR net stations on the Net Radio node.
Could you please write (or link) a little bit more on adding my own websites to the list of the script?
Is there a chance to know the language you used for the script and to obtain your permission to possibly add the dialog box?

:D

Sorry.

Yes it works on MM3.

You can add stations in the script's source
aaaaaaarrrrrrrrhhhhhhhh :( ---> not really, it's easy :)
Obviously a nice settings dialog could be made, but for such a simple script I didn't really saw the need.

You can choose to open the streams in Winamp, but if you change the path to e.g. Firefox, then that will work too.

Ahem!!...
Ok, I got no answer and installed it. I seems to work in MM3, but I don't know how. I mean, I see that a new node appeared in the tree, but how do I add stations to it? No instructions for this script?

Hey Steegy!
Does this script work for MM3? If not, is it going to?
And does it allow me to add websites to the Net Radio node like I described here?
Thanks!

I still get a read-only error saying that I cannot edit the file. There seems to be something in Vista that is preventing me from editing this script file.

Thanks, but it looks like Vista is still blocking me from editing and saving this file. If I use Notepad, it gives me the above error message whether I am working on the desktop or in Program Files/MediaMonkey3.... If I use WordPad on either the desktop or in Program Files/MediaMonkey3... I get an error message about not being able to change a read-only file. In all above cases I am Running as an Administator.

I think the problem is that Vista installed this vbs file as a read-only file. As the administrator of the machine I have tried to change the write properties of this script file to full priveleges for writing, but these changes do not seem to stick. I am sure I am missing something obvious. I am running Vista Premium.

BTW, what is TextPad?

cherryplinth-
When I edit a script with notepad w/vista I have to save it to my desktop, then move it to the script folder and replace previous script.
However, if I use "TextPad" to edit it allows me to save it directly to the folder.
Cannot explain this behavior, but one of these solutions should work for you.

I think Vista is trying to make it difficult to make changes in the program files directory. Notepad will let me edit the StreamsTreeNode.vbs file, but when I go to save the file (Running As Administrator) I get the following:

"Cannot create the C:\Program Files\Media Monkey3\Scripts\Auto\StreamsTree Node.vbs file".

In fact, if I just open and save the StreamsTreeNode file in Notepad, I get the same error message. Vista seemed to be happy letting me install the StreamsTreeNode script, but it does not seem to want me to make changes to the script. Strange.

Opening it in any text editor, e.g. Notepad, should do the trick. As I don't use Vista yet, I can't give you any more info.

Any idea on how to edit the StreamsTreeNode.VBS file in Vista? I would like to edit the file so I can display some new stations on the tree, but Vista won't let me edit/save the file - even if I am Running As Administrator.

cherryplinth wrote:Thank you so much, Steegy. Your complete listing of input dll's did the trick. The one thing I would add to your instructions is to be sure to get the latest version of MM. I had not updated my version since last summer, and even with your new dll's, I still could not get the AAC streams to play. But as soon as I updated MM to version 2.5.4.978, everything works like a charm. Now I have to figure out how to get Real streams to play using the Tara plug-in.

I think your posting above is going to get a lot of views.

There can be several reasons:
- stream doesn't exist, is down or has connection problems
- stream is in a music format that's not supported by MM (or for which you need an extra plugin; like for aac streams)
- just general MM stream playing problem

Anyway, MM 3.0 will have improved support for streams and will have built-in AAC (aac, mp4, m4a, ...) support.

Steegy wrote:Well, look at your now playing list and you'll see how the script works.

StreamsTreeNode should add an entry (the stream) in front of the list, and start playing it. If MM can't play the entry (stream), it will ignore it (flag it unreadable, in gray color) and start the next entry in the now playing list (in this case your previously playing song).

So I think that MM can't play the stream you want it to play, and so continues with the next song in the now playing list.
Okay, thanks. Is there a reason MM can't play the streams?
Forgot to log in, it's me asking. :D
