UPDATE: While I'm still interested in finding an add-on to MM, to do this, I have found ID3AlbumArtExtractor, which extracts artwork from all music files. I then had to run a duplicate file check to weed out the duplicates it created, and THEN had to use AAT to remove the artwork from the files, but all the artwork is now complete in JPGs.

Not sure if this add-on actually does this, but I can't see it, so I need to find out if this, or something else, works:

I want to extract all the art tags from an album's MP3s.
I've previously gone to great lengths to embed all my art; and while I've never deleted the folder's JPG files afterwards, some seem to have gone missing, or newer downloads have tags I want to extract because the JPGs weren't included in the folder.
I want to have external (JPG files) artwork for all albums.
Once done, I'll do searches to add missing artwork.

All files in an album have the same art, so each track #1 has all the art I need to extract (whether it's just a front cover, or front/back/media/leaflets/etc.) - I don't need to scan every file in every album; just one file per album will do. I don't want 20 copies of each JPG file because there were 20 tracks.

What I hope to find a way to do:
- filter on just track #1 for all albums (over 10,000, so it must be batch-functional).
- run the add-on (or, even external software; I just like to have MM do all the work!)
- it extracts files giving them filenames such as 'Front Cover.jpg', 'Front Cover1.jpg', 'Front Cover2.jpg' (say there were 3 images tagged as Front Cover...), 'Back Cover.jpg', 'Media File.jpg', 'Media File1.jpg'... with the <ArtistAlbum> and <Album> in the filename. So it would use the TYPE of image tag, to name the extracted image.
- of course, files to go into the album's folder, not anywhere else.

I can do this with AAT5.2 if I only want the first embedded image (action option 1); but has anyone worked on expanding it to include ALL embedded images? Or, does AAT do this, and I'm just blind to it?

Any help or direction appreciated... it's been 3 long evenings and I've only scratched the surface of the collection by trying things manually...

What's in this thread is what is available as documentation on this Addon.

Widows 7, Media Monkey, Amazon, & Discogs.

Hello again,

Is there any sort of tutorial to the Album Art Tagger please?

I've recently installed XP and the tagger, have just uploaded an album into Media Monkey, and it isn't obvious how one uses it...perhaps it's just me?!

Thanks for your help.

OK, I figured out that a Script is an "Extension" so I got it installed. Now I have a folder with artist\album folders under it. Every folder with sound files has a FOLDER.JPG file there.

Is there some trick to this "mask" thing? Or will it just imbed the accompanying .jpg into the tracks?
I hit OK and the script seems to want me to rename EVERY folder.jpg to something like the album name! It must have trenched that out of the metadata. Obviously since no player app (on earth as far as I know) uses album art like this, I'll have to write a script to rename all the folder.jpg files, then another one to rename them back (or copy the tree somewhere else to preserve them). I tested this, and sure enough, "cover.jpg" works, and so does "folder.jpg". "This Left Feels Right.jpg" fails miserably.

Obviously when I told it to go, it did NOTHING.

Does that "mask" thing has something to do with this, and there are likely 200,000 ways to write the mask wrong and one way to do it so it works. Otherwise, I would have had to use a Tag editor to get the "approved" name for every JPG file, which is roughly as repetitive and time-wasting as just applying all the art to the tags manually.

Is there an example anywhere of how I could make this work with all the album art in FOLDER.JPG files?

Those are the installers, not the installed Addon. Double click the .mmip file to install.

Yes, I see your script! It's in <ProgramFiles>\MediaMonkey\Scripts\Auto\AlbumArtTagger52.mmip. It was apparently loaded when I bought and loaded Media Monkey. Great. (the other script in AUTO is: DiscogsAutoTagWeb_V5.58.mmip)

Now I go to Tools-> Scripts, and I see five scripts, none of them yours. How do I invoke your script?

I can confirm that site is OK and I noted him about it, also I updated his signature for now.

You'll have to wait for a developer (or, possibly, Trixmoto himself) to verify and explain that for you. The site certificate is ok, though, and the webpage is the same as it always was. I've downloaded this file and checked it - it's fine.

I found that. It's not clear if it's legit or not. If it is, why haven't the links here and in those in the MediaMonkey add-ons section been updated?

Where can this be downloaded? Website and dropbox links are dead. I have 5.1 installed, but MediaMonkey fails to update it to 5.2.

Hi, I am using the latest script. Am having an issue with back cover image not being extracted for option 4.
Front cover is extracted fine and size changed. Kindly advise.

Getting Started- Extracting Images to folder.jpg

by colin_e » Sun Jun 12, 2016 6:47 pm

I have just installed Album Art Tagger as I want to do some cleanup. Having trouble with the very first step, so I assume i'm doing something wrong.

My files are all stored on a Synology NAS in FLAC format with embedded image tags.

File organisation mask is: \\{NAS Name}\music\Library\<Album Artist>\<Album>\<Track#:2> - <Title>
e.g.: \\MyNAS\music\Library\Elvis Costello\The Very Best Of Elvis Costello\29 - High Fidelity.flac

I want to export the Cover image for each album to a file called "folder.jpg" in the folder containing the album.

I ran Album Art Tagger with the option set to "extract" and the the file mask: <path>\folder

  • Many of the existing image files scattered around seem to have been stored with "Hidden" and/or "System" file attibutes. This meant they weren't visible in Explorer by default, which was confusing at first. I'm guess some program (not MM) tends to do this to hide the cover art from normal display?
  • I run Album Art Tagger for my 3000+ tracks, and it generates a big listing. However path names in the list are shown in blue, which apparently means "Duplicate or wrong type". A few files called "folder.jpg" do exist already, but not every file AAT is trying to write is a duplicate. Meanwhile the output type is set to jpg, and the write preview listing shows all files as "folder.jpg", which looks fine. My user ID has write access on the NAS (I wrote the files using MM in the first place), so i'm unsure what's going on.
Any advice?

(BTW, BBCode formatting in this post isn't working for me a lot of the time. Anyone else seeing this issue?)

I'm using this great script but ran into trouble...

My music is structured : drive:\artist\album.
Each album folder has a subfolder named Images
the album art is always named artist - album - front.jpg

[artist would be: Beatles, The
album artist would be: The Beatles
foldername would be Beatles, The]

I use the following mask: <path>\Images\<trackartist> - <album> - front

This works fine except for tracks within an album with multiple artists.
The script tries to find an image named: artist1; artist2 - album - front.jpg

I've tried: <path>\Images\$First(<trackartist>) - <album> - front, but that doesn't work.

Is there a way to make a mask for just the first value of a multiple definition field?

Mine is doing the same....
Some Albums get 2 or more sets of the same artwork. It is frustrating, I don't know what is causing this.
