This is an issue I am having with some 15 files that, no matter how many times I have edited the tags, they always appeared with the tag fields empty. I thought it was some special failure in the track files themselves, and they positively have had before some kind of failure, since some data, sopposedly trasfered from freeDB, was missing or lost too. For instance, those tracks appears in MM5 without track#, trackname or Album.
So I did the following: I made an edition via Windows Properties > Details, filling there only some fields like trackname (my goal was to rescue the long filename that contained the complex and long tackname) before shortening the track filename. So I did it, and the information was written and saved to the file, via Windows. Later, with the problematic track renamed, I reloaded it into MM5 DB and completed the edition (Composer, Album, Artists, Directos, Genre, etc., etc.) and saved the new properties to the file. Success! Inspecting the file via Windows>Properties>Data, all new info was registered there. Did the same with other problematic tracks with the same successful results. So MM5 could save tags to file when all those losng filenames were renamed and shortened.
An example of a problematic path/trackfile, not yet edited, would be:
"Z:\Música Clásica \Ravel, Maurice\Lorin Maazel - Orchestre National de la R.T.F\Ravel- L'Enfant et les sortilèges - Fantaisie lyrique\19 Lorin Maazel - Orch Nal de la R.T.F - ROndes des Chauves-Souris 'Rends-la moi' [La Chauve-Souris, L'Enfant].flac"
....pretty long.
