I just come to refresh this topic... :)

I don't know why this topic is in "wishlist" section but i just want to know if this BUG (because it's a bug and not a wish) will be fixed, or if it's not planned at all?

for those who forgot, here is the link with the video which shows clearly the bug:

thank you again for your job guys...

i'm sorry rusty, but i don't understand how you can consider it's not "critical", it's a very useful function to select (with mouse) songs in the "now playing" list that i use it nearly every day... But to avoid the bug, i have to select one song, press SHIFT and the last song i want...

Not really easy, whereas i could make a nice selection with MM2.5 ...
It's quite weird isn't it?

What is the issue?

by rusty » Thu Nov 15, 2007 5:54 pm

My understanding of the problem being described is that:

1) Some people don't like the way selection works (the fact that the title text must be included in a 'mouse drag box'). Like peke, I don't think this is a bug.

2) Some described the problem as being the fact that scrolling is too fast when attempting to select tracks with a mouse-drag. I agree, but don't think this is critical.

Is there another problem that I'm not understanding?

well that's a good remark, i didn't think to that....
Maybe you're right...

what do the developpers think about it?

by GargantulaKon » Thu Nov 08, 2007 11:11 pm

Whoa, that is craziness. That is definitely a bug. Maybe the bug does not happen to me because I do not have thousands of songs.

by Pastis » Tue Nov 06, 2007 7:46 pm

OK
I see what you want to say, but my picture is not the best way to show the bug i have.
The bug happens exactly when the rectangle touches the song's name, and for each song, there's a quick scroll leads to lose the control.

I made a video too, i hope you'll see my problem:

But i saw you don't have the probleme and i'd like to understand how it's possible. Moreover, it appears i'm not the only one to notice it.

Even if i perfectly drag the mouse all the way to the left (as you suggested me), on the same horizontal line (which is really slow and boring), it's better, but the "quick scroll" is still here...

I remember i never had that bug with MM2.5

thank you for your interest GargantulaKon :)

Sorry, I made a mistake by not including the word "not" in my above post. I think the missing word was what made the post confusing.

The videos show that I do not seem to experience the bug.

Try selecting the whole list by dragging the mouse all the way to the left of the title column. I see that in the picture you posted that you do not select the complete title column and that is why the selection does not include the shorter titles.

I hope this helps. :)

Hello;

I didn't understand if you have currently the bug, or if you have found something to fix it?
The videos arn't clear enough to me (sorry  )
It seems that you don't have the bug according to the videos...

Moreover i didn't succeed to do what you did...

Sorry for my incomprehension...
Can you be clearer please?

No, I did not do it with the Now Playing window but it does not happen to me in the Now Playing tree node view either. I made another video using the Now Playing list in two different panels. It works the same if I use the lower Now Playing panel too.

Are you sure you made this demo using the "now playing" window? I think not because "now playing" is the window just under the one you show in the video (which is used to display what is selected in the tree on the left.)

The problem appears only with now playing window

It works fine for me, if I select all the way to the left and make sure the title is fully selected. The "bug" happens when the title is not in the selection window.

This is how the problem occurs in motion:

I understand and yes the scroll is rather fast to be of any use for limited selection.

by Pastis » Wed Oct 31, 2007 1:18 am

no lowlander, you didn't understand... don't look only the photo... (of course, with windows it's the same type of selection, and it's not the problem)

Please read all the topic, the problem is explained in 3 differents ways..

I know it's difficult to explain, but i understand what you want to say and it has nothing to do with my problem.
powerpill-pacman wrote:For me the problem is that it scrolls so fast, you can't control the selection.
do you want another explanation?

is my english so bad?

by Lowlander » Tue Oct 30, 2007 11:46 pm

This also happens in MM2. You see only the songs where the title crossing in the select area are selected (Windows Explorer works the same) whereas I assume most users expect to have all songs in the area selected selected.

by Pastis » Tue Oct 30, 2007 1:55 am

thank you rusty!

GargantulaKon, in fact you can't see the bug with a photo, because the probleme is a particular movement. Maybe it can help you to understand:

It happens when i try to select songs from now playing list, like you can see here:

But for each song selected, the list scrolls very quickly, and it's impossible to make the selection you want.
It's not critical, but it's quite troubling, isn't it?
