So, if one wants a response, should one send the bug-report via email?
I just wanted to say that we can't reply every single post. Often it turns out that things posted as bugs aren't actually bugs, sometimes they are rather feature requests etc. Posting in forum is ok, but replies don't necessarily come immediatelly.
Do you want a list of the hundreds of files I have that MM won't add to its library?
One or two would be ok. More about it in http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22037.

re. Saving of MM configuration - what I meant is that possibly MM.ini is being saved to a folder where you don't have rights to save files. More depends on your configuration...

RE. 1GB+ files - sure the logs were processed the error is already fixed - fix will be availabel in the next release.

Hi Scuttle.
In MM3 folder is stored MediaMonkey.elf file. Zip it and mail it to me, please (petr attt mediamonkey dottt com).

This forum isn't meant to be a direct connection between users and developers or technical support. Bugs or other issues can be discussed here and we really support this and try to help as much as possible, but there aren't any guarantees that developers will respond, particularly not in 24 hours or so.

Also, as mentioned above, it's better to split issues into several threads, it is much easier to respond and discuss them.

Anyway:
* When MM is scanning monitored folders, the treeview becomes unusable. If you try to rename f.ex a playlist, the textbar flashes the "edit mode" for half a second, then disappears.

* When MM is scanning monitored folders, the library becomes impossible to browse through. MM forces the list to the top, if you scroll down, the list immediately jumps to the top.
Could you e-mail us some screenshots or videos of the problem so that we see how to actually trigger it?
I'll get right on it...
Unicode issues...
MM _does_ support Unicode. That said, we occasionaly have some reports of Unicode related problems, particularly from Chinese users. Recently I asked a user for RARed file exhibiting the problem, but for some reason, the filename doesn't seem to be properly preserved by RAR. I suggested to e-mail the filename only e.g. in a Word document, hopefully it will help to resolve the issue.

As seen in this screenshot, the "Choose tree nodes" option has issues.
What exactly?
Removable Disk is unchecked, it still shows up in the tree-view
Every time I start MM, I have to right-click the equalizer and disable it, the setting does not save.
Seems to be a problem with rights for saving MM configuration.
And what exactly does that mean? That the bug is something you'll fix?
Syncing large (1GB+) files generates a crash.
What exactly? Have you sent any error log?
I have sent plenty of errorlogs when this occurred. If your automated error reporting tools works, they should be right there.
As for other issues, they will probably mostly get to our to-do list.

Jiri
"probably"? "mostly"?

Oh, and I'm emailing this to you too, to make sure you get it

Been a week now, and no response to the issues I put forward, is this supposed to be a serious operation?

@scuttle

Those are a lot of issues...maybe you can think about breaking the thread into several more, in order to have a discussion on each...or maybe grouped together as in "tree bugs", "installation bugs", etc...that would make it easier for everyone to follow the thread and you might get more response. At least, you could edit the first post and number each bug, so its easier to follow.

Are you using the gold version? file monitor issues could be related to that

Bumping this...it would be nice with at least _some_ kind of response from the people in charge...

Beta 4 seems more unsable for me than beta 3. Lots of locks-ups when working the Artist Tree. ie

Moving back and forth between albums in artist tree to quickly will lock-up

Using auto tag from Amazon will cause lock-ups

Had to go back to beta 3 after too many locks-ups sorry I wasn't able to test more.

Running Asus A8N5X with AMD 64 bit single core; Vista Home Premium full ver.; and Buffalo Linkstation network drive for the music drive.

I too thought this was a bug, but it's a new "feature" in MM3 - to fix it go into the Output plugin settings and disable the Smooth Stop/Pause/Seek options. I don't like it either, I can't understand why it's enabled by default.

Disabling the "remove silence" option might also fix the problem you have with the start of tracks being skipped (though this does sound like a bug).

As for the rest, I'll leave it to the MM devs to answer...
Thanks! It was driving me nuts...

* When MM is scanning monitored folders, folders and files with unicode-filenames gets ignored

* Unicode files in general seems to be a major issue, I seem to be able to play files with unicode filenames, but they are nowhere to be seen in the library
[edit]Did some more testing and generated this logfile. When scanning through it, it seems like there is a thing or ten that needs to be done to get unicode working properly...

* When I installed, I chose to not associate MM with any filetypes. When I started MM and checked under General->Filetypes there were several filetypes checked, and the option to re-associate MM with the selected filetypes on startup was checked

* There is no way to trigger the "scan monitored folders" feature from within the program. To use it, you are forced to restart

* MM doesn't properly stop one song before playing the next. If I am playing song A, and double-clicks on song B, both songs are playing for about .5 seconds before song A stops.

* On resizing columns... The standard way to automatically resize, for example, the Album-column is to double-click the divider to the right on the column. The column is then resized to a width where all album-titles are fully visible. Doing this in MM changes the sort-order in the column to the right of, in this example, the Album-column.

* Naming my iPod "Scuttle's iPod - USB Mass Storage Device (L:)" in the tree-view is superfluous. I know my iPod is connected via USB, and I really don't care what driveletter it is...

* There is no way to tell MM where to put the database. [edit] Saw that you can do it via a textfile, but it would be nice to be able to do it from within MM

* When subscribing to a Podcast there should be no need for MM to ask for the title, the "<title>" tag in the RSS-feed takes care of that...

* It is possible to tell MM to download the same episode of the same podcast several times, at the same time...

* If the default podcast-directory (in my case Z:\Podcasts) does not exists, MM throws up an errormessage saying it can't save to that folder

* When sorting, words like "The" should not be taken into account. I.e, "The Album" is to be sorted before "Beatles", not after "Soundtrack"

* Often when double clicking on a song, the first second or so is not played

* As seen in this screenshot, the "Choose tree nodes" option has issues.

* Every time I start MM, I have to right-click the equalizer and disable it, the setting does not save.

* If I am located in a playlist when I exit MM, I am taken back to that playlist when I restart MM, but the sort-order in the playlist is not saved.

* Syncing large (1GB+) files generates a crash.
