BHome - UPnP Media Player on HP Touch Pad does just that. You set up any UPnP or DLNA server and select a render device to push the music to.
Downside is that it only plays one track at a time :( Other then that it quite a ideal solution because it doesn't matter where the server is (localy).
You can have multiple servers going and it always seems to find them.

http://www.bubblesoftapps.com/bubbleupnpserver/ works for me

The app on my android phone (as remote) and the server on my windows server.
Using this I can send a MM or foobar stream directly to my stereo. My phone only serves as a remote so it does not have to be connected all the time.

Now that Erlend has fixed his MediaMonkeyRemoteServer to play nicely with a portable MM installation, sending the music to something other than my PC's speakers is next up on the list for me. I used to use an Airport Express with iTunes so if anyone can recommend a similar DLNA equivalent that would be great (I'm not looking for a player, just a way to get the stream to a player I already have - preferably selectable, multiple players actually). After reading the whole thread and the attached links, I'm really looking forward to trying this! :)

Just the thing I'm looking for (if I find it, I let you know)

Is there any way to have a 'Play To' action in MM4 (like in Win7, option is given on mp3 files) that could adress any renderer ? Or is there already & I simply couldn't find :D
No, maybe in the future but not for 4.0.

Too bad. Dealbreaker for me. WMplayer will have to do for the time being.

Will take a look. Thanks

It's my understanding (maybe I'm wrong) that the listed BubbleUPnP and UPnPlay can do that.

Lowlander, maybe I was mistaken: I'm looking for a way to control mediamonkey running on my pc, from my Android phone. Ideally from the phone it should be possible to select a playlist, skip, start stop, adjust volume...

Thanks Lowlander, I tried MM4 but Sonos does not communicate well with other DLNA-servers... Hopefully one of the smart people here will create something;)

MediaMonkey 4 already does DLNA. On any DLNA capable device you can browse your MediaMonkey Library and play it. Play To isn't yet available, but this only adds functionality so you can select files in MediaMonkey itself and select them for playback on a DLNA capable device.

Furthermore MediaMonkey 4 can play from DLNA servers and be controlled.

I would really enjoy a play to option in MediaMonkey. I have a Sonos set, which works with WMP 12, but i don't need to tell you guys WMP cannot compete with MM when it comes to controlling and playing your music library... There are probably a lot of priorities and requests for the new MM, but DLNA compatibility surely has my vote!

Even better would be the ability to use a smartphone/tablet as control point to Play via MM To a DLNA device.
