This is not that issue, which after many upgrades I haven't seen myself.

I installed MM a few times and what I've come across is, if you had the MM icon on the taskbar from your initial install, and you re-installed it again, (I suppose an upgrade would be the same) your initial icon on the taskbar will not work... (For some reason when you uninstall MM, the icon remains on the (taskbar)... You should have a new icon on your desktop somewhere's that will work.. You can replace the taskbar MM icon with the one on your desktop..

Right click on the MediaMonkey icon in the Start Menu and select Properties. In the Window that opens add /nosplash to the Target (with space between the ...MediaMonkey.exe" and /nosplash).

So Target should look something like: "C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\MediaMonkey.exe" /nosplash

Thanks, nohitter, I'll give that a shot. (Although, to be perfectly honest, I have no idea what a splash screen is. I was really serious when I said I'm a computer idiot.)

It sounds like you might have something stuck behind the splash screen that prevents MM from opening (until the thing behind the splash screen gets attention). Try starting MM without the splash screen, by using the /nosplash parameter.

Right click the MM shortcut on desktop > Properties
Add space then /nosplash to the end of the target

First off, I'm pretty much an idiot when it comes to computers, so please understand if this seems like a dumb question:
Now that I've downloaded this updated version of MM, it won't open up. All I get is the initial, smaller dark-coloured box with the MM logo--letting me know it's trying to open up--but after several minutes, I have to do the old 'ctrl-alt-delete' and shut it down. I tried downloading MM again, thinking that maybe I did something wrong the first time, but that hasn't solved the problem at all. Does anybody know of anything I can do to 'fix' this?
