I installed the Android update today and just tested the Upnp-streaming with the Wiim. Work very nicely now, thanks for the good work!

Hi Bastiaan57,

We believe that this is fixed in build 1281 (the current beta), though we don't have a wiim device for testing. Can you confirm whether it resolves the problem for you?

Thanks!

Martin,
1. It happens the same with all albums, regardless of file type/bitrate. If I start with track 1, it skips to track 5/6/7, if I e.g. start with track 5 it skips to track 10/11/12. Once a track is playing, it keeps playing. But if I select 'next track', the skipping will again occur.
2. The Wiim Ultra supports two ways of casting: Upnp and Chromecast (not gapless, no bitrate info on the Ultra screen, limited quality?). The casting to the Wiim Chromecast has no problems, works fine.
3. I have tested with one specific album (flac, regular 16/44):
- With 2 other audio programs there are no problems with the Upnp-casting.
- As you requested I have also tried to cast (the same album) from MMW5. There something unexpected occurred: I could only see the casting symbol for the Wiim Chromecast and not for the Wiim Upnp. Casting worked OK for the Wiim Chromecast.

I stream to a Wiim Ultra and the symptoms are still the same: tracks are skipped and eventually some random track in the queue starts playing. I have tried to Upnp-stream the same music albums with Bubbleupnp, VLC and Symfonium (trial version): no problem, all work fine.
So it looks to me this is a Mediamonkey-specific issue.

Hi Bastiaan57.
The fixes related to this are planned to be included in 2.1.1.x version(coming soon as Beta).

Anyway, I've checked your logs, and your renderer returned the position as if the track had been played completely, even though it hadn't. This happens when the track is not supported, but I don't think this is the case.
Is the same track skipped every time, or does it only depend on its position in the now-playing queue(first, the one after the next action)?
If it only happens with specific tracks, I'm also curious whether you can cast the same FLAC track from MediaMonkey for Windows to a Wiim Ultra?

I am really looking forward to this! And, don't forget the ability to sort my albums by release year in MMA?

We believe that we have the Marantz playback issue fixed for 2.1.1.
See: https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=21637
We expect to start beta testing 2.1.1 in a week or so.

But re. the Wiim Ultra, we somehow conflated the issue with the marantz problem and never looked at it on its own even though it seems to be a distinct issue. Would you mind submitting a new log using build 1276 and posting the log ID here (I checked and do not see any logs with a comment about casting to wiim that were submitted using 2.01.0.1274+) ?

Please leave Options > Playback to:
Audio transitions: none
Playback engine: Exo

Thank you!

I wonder what the progress is on this issue? Various debug-reports have been submitted, but yet Upnp-casting is not working. Have you looked into these reports, what are your conclusions?

Can you explain what playback issue you're referring to?

Also, debug log F3PAL6D83V doesn't appear to have been submitted. Can you share the zip file if you have it? Your best bet is to open a ticket and share it or a link to it.

Thanks!

It's the same playback issue I have been reporting here. 1. Cast to Marantz 1711 2. Playback counter goes from 0 to 1 and back again. If you move playback manually to 1.13 [or whatever], the counter just toggles back and forth from that point instead. Very easy to see. Much harder to describe unless someone else has reported the issue. Also, this is HEOS as indicated by the Marantz display.
You see. I am still stuck trying to get the file from the phone to the PC. Then I can much more easily work with it on my PC.

Casting to Marantz w/ Latest Beta Build 1268

by TheEmpathicEar » Mon Aug 11, 2025 4:47 pm

I submitted two logs from MMA. There both should be in the same log file, but I forgot about something. I can cast to Marantz 1711. But, it will on play the first track of those selected and them stop. Also, the counter on the left side goes back and forth from 0 to 1 and vice-versa. I will try to remember the Log file IDs or whatever there called.

I've done some testing:
- Filetypes: flac and mp3, Bitrates: mp3-320, flac16/44, 24/44, 24/88, 24/96
- I have not found any difference in behaviour between filetype or bitrate.
- Yes, the first track always skips. But the track that eventually plays is highly unpredictable. Many times all tracks are skipped.
- When a track plays 'normal' and I press 'next song', the skipping will again occur.
- I have not found a common denominator in the tracks that eventually starts playing.
- The error occurs both on my phone and on my tablet (Android 11 and Android 14)
- On my Wiim Ultra I can also cast to Chromecast: no problem.

Hi Bastiaan57,

Thanks for the log--we're going to look into it.

Can you tell me though, does the first track that is skipped _always_ skip? If that particular file always triggers a skip, can you tell me what type of file is it (i.e. mp3, m4a, flac, etc. and what bitrate/etc.)?

Thanks!
