OK, I did a careful test.
Pixel 10 XL Pro with latest released android, and MM 2.1.1.1289 (presumably current as auto-update is set).
Using Pixel Buds 2, I put them in by ear, connected, and started playing a song with MM.
I then took them out of the ear (music stops) and laid them down, and went to my car (Kia EV6 2022). The phone was previously paired.
I got in and started moving, and in a bit (I was definitely out of range of the earbuds) it starts playing. Came back, parked, turned the car off which disconnected and MM stopped (paused, whatever you call it).
Now interestingly I reversed -- turned the car off, came inside, picked up the buds and put them in my ear, they connected automatically but MM did not start playing.
So I cannot explain what's different about going to the car and coming back. But it's as I recalled -- when I start the car up and the phone connects, if MM was playing in the house, it starts playing again.
Under settings, playback, resume play on connection is definitely off.
This is hardly a crisis, it was more than I felt there must be a "stop" button like there is on the PC version. But... any idea why it starts up again?
I should add that Audible does that as well, but Audible is what I listen to in the car, not MM (this is how this question comes about).
I can't imagine how, but can something about the car be initiating it?
Again, this is so far down on the priorities.... I was just hoping to find the stop button, figured I was blind.
BY the way... why does the PC have separate stop vs pause buttons but not the android app?
