All the information is stored in the database. So yes you could edit the database manually. I personally think that scripts is a saver option.

With my Duplicate find&fix script you can transfer playhistory and playcount with drag&drop from one song to another.:

Is there not even a manual way to change this?
I'd only want my play counts copied across to the new songs, and i woundlt mind doing the rest by hand (tagging, etc).

I just don't want to lose the play counts as theres a tonne of plahylists that rely on them :)

Is the Played # stores in the tags or database?

I'd be eternally grateful if this could be made into a script, as im sure there are many people that would want something like this.

Cheers, Mike.

Yeah, but there's several problems with that:
1. Incredibly slow. Sure, for the odd song it works but if you are re-ripping a substantial part of your collection...

2. It's hard to keep track which is the new song and which is the old one. YOu can by looking at the path but nevertheless it's not convenient at all

3. Several fields can't be selected like this. For example, lyrics have to be copy/pasted separately.

Again, this works great for the odd song - or to apply fields to a bunch of songs at once, but NOT to re-tag many files!

This could be done with scripts. I'm not sure if such a script exist yet.

Nope.

But i'd like to keep things that aren't in the list, like play counts :)

Which i guess isn't possible currently?

Me too me too me too me too!!

I've been hoping for a way to transfer tags between files (not apply the same to a batch but 1:1 source directory - target directory) for ages!!

Re-ripping songs is currently such a pain in the a$$ because you have to tag them all over again - having to copy-paste each field individually is really annoying!

Im going through the process of re-ripping a majority of my CD collection.
Id like it if i didnt use ratings/playcounts that are already on the songs in my library.

Is there a way to easily copy across this data, or will i have to mod the database?

Cheers, Mike.
