I'll second/third this as a recommendation for future development. It's important to my use case. Music dinosaurs like me still think of music in terms of albums and not individual tracks. I have a number of compilation albums/sets that I tag "Various Artists" for Album Artist while retaining the correct Artist tag for each track. If I select Jazz or Bluegrass or whatever for Genre, I don't want to see those albums split out into 20 different Artists each, creating crazy clutter in the menu. I could sort of work around it by tagging the tracks as "Various Artists" for the Artist tag, but then I lose that artist information unless I move it into the track title, which leads to really long and awkward titles.
IIRC, iPods basically had this option - something like "sort by Album Artist" as a toggle. It just replaced all sorts by Artist by a corresponding sort by Album Artist instead.
