Try the Volume Logic plug in. It's not a DSP, it takes over the sound output entirely from Media Monkey, so you enable it in the Output Plugins menu, not DSP. Sounds great, even better than AIMP and Foobar, I think.

I couldn't get v1.3 from their website to work with MM3, but v1.2 from the Winamp site works.

Sound "quality" can oft times be a very personal thing. Typically, this is why most pro equipment tries to recreate the exact sound stream with little (if any) colouring - leaving end users to add preferred tweaks if desired. Many of these so called "enhancements" are aimed at helping [i]fix [/i]either a poor quality source signal, or a lower quality sound reproduction system - but can often make it sound worse. Personally I found they sound very artificial (including DFX) resulting in their immediate uninstallation, but it's a matter of taste.

As such I've found upgrading the MP3 decoder to the MAD plug-in the only enhancement needed for MediaMonkey. Using a decent audio source, soundcard, amp and speakers will do the rest.

I've used Winamp for years, and have recently switched to Media Monkey after discovering how incredible its Media Library control is.

While I'll probably always use MM for organizing and tagging, since coming across this post, I've become hooked on AIMP. The sound quality is noticeably better than other players (even foobar). I've tried numerous Winamp DSP enhancers, and none come close to AIMP's quality.

Anyway, if you're still skeptical, go get a decent set of speakers/headphones, and try it out for yourself.

A big issue that should be improved in MediaMonkey is Sound quality.
I have installed the last release of DFX DSP output option and the quality of sound improves a lot. But, why don't improve that directly within MM3?

It is called AIMP Classic, and I sometimes use it as an output to MM3 in the Winamp configuration. The stream redirection works fine more or less.

Of course, you loose the whole tracking of files, so I prefer to use the internal player when sound quality is not an issue.
