If you sync to the SD card in the device MMW will update the MMA database directly. However if you take the SD card out to sync to it you're relying on the Google Media scanner. Some future release of MMA is supposed to get its own tag scanner (it has been mentioned by the developers in forum discussions).

All songs are synced to the micro SD card via MMW.
I guess the blame is in the Android media scanner then.

Here's to hoping MMA can get support for reading directly from the files. It's that in the works already?

It is disappointing to have all my songs tagged and rated and then not be able to use them in MMA when I can in MMW.

Were the files synced by MMW or through other method? Any other method than MMW relies on the Android Media Tag scanner as MMA doesn't do this yet.

1) MMW version 4.1.5.1719 -> Sync to MicroSD Card.
2) Verify on SSD card that mp3s were copied successfully with lyrics and ratings in metadata.
2.5) Played SSD sourced mp3 in windows media player showing correct metadata, and windows explorer shows correct as well.
3) Use any version of MMA BETA (currently on BETA 1.1.0.0339)
Android OS 4.4.4
4) Play a song with known rating and lyrics with the following results:
Rating = blank
Lyrics = "Lyrics are not available"


I have never had this working on MMA. Other Android apps "MP3 tag editors" show the data in the files.
What debugging info can I provide to help get this working?
