Re: Inferred File Properties are ignored on rescan/update

So let's say, Microsoft documents that the email addresses in a DL are resolved when you "send a new" email. You reply to the email and unbeknown to you, the members of the DL did not receive the email. This is because the email addresses in the DL were not resolved. Your answer to this wo...

Re: Inferred File Properties are ignored on rescan/update

It absolutely is a bug. I am scanning the file. First time or second time I am scanning the file. It should do the same thing. It should be repeatable. When I write a piece of code, you pass a set of parameters into a function, and the output of that function is the same. It should be consistent. Al...

Re: Inferred File Properties are ignored on rescan/update

I do want Rating updated. Because it has changed. I do want the Folder name still to be to be picked up as the Album Title. If the folder name changed then the Album name should change (which would happen as it is detected as a new file). Since that doesn't happen, and the album name changes (to wha...

Re: Inferred File Properties are ignored on rescan/update

Yes. I am reading Rating from a Tag and Album from the folder via Inferred Properties, when I add the track to MediaMonkey. That is a feature provided by MediaMonkey. And that works correctly. When the track is rescanned, it overwrites the Album which was populated as an Inferred Property with the v...

Re: Inferred File Properties are ignored on rescan/update

I'm not mixing and matching my sources. Beyond what MediaMonkey allows, which is to take some data from the path and some from the tags.
But these inferred properties are overwritten, when the file is reimported. This IS a bug!!

Re: Inferred File Properties are ignored on rescan/update

If you're going to manage as you're doing now you're going to run into problems at some point (metadata loss).
That sounds like a bug to me....

Re: Inferred File Properties are ignored on rescan/update

From my previous post: >If the opinion is, that it is not needed, then why provide the option, "Inferred Properties then tags" - the option should be removed. >Or if it is decided it is needed, the software should be fixed, and "Inferred Properties then tags", should be observed ...

Re: Inferred File Properties are ignored on rescan/update

I don't want to write the tags to the files, because they are not permanent changes, as per the previous post.

Re: Inferred File Properties are ignored on rescan/update

>Most people would consider their Library tags the correct value and not folder/filenames. Then why does the option exist. FYI, My tags are correct, but I am "rewriting" my album and album artist tags, for certain songs, to "Compilation" and "Various Artists", before sy...

Re: Inferred File Properties are ignored on rescan/update

No, I want ratings updated from the Tags. They don't get updated, unless that option is enabled. But if it is enabled, Inferred Properties are overwritten.

Re: Inferred File Properties are ignored on rescan/update

Yes, but's what the point of it, if the values are overwritten, when the file is rescanned. I know what my testers would say, if I tried to get that past them. I would have to fix it, and wouldn't be able to pass it off as won't fix. When a file is rescanned, it needs to pick up the latest rating, w...

Re: Inferred File Properties are ignored on rescan/update

The software should be consistent. The option "Use" is provided to either use "Tags then inferred properties" or "Inferred Properties then tags". However, this choice, is only observed, when the file is first imported, and is ignored when the file is rescanned, thereaft...

Inferred File Properties are ignored on rescan/update

Inferred File Properties from: "Filenames + Path"; use: "Inferred Properties then Tags" are ignored, when the file is rescanned, and the option "Update file info from Tags when rescanning files" is enabled. For example. if the path is used to infer the Album title, then...

Re: TriState selection on playlist, selected for syncing

How would that be awful? It's tristate. It doesn't take away your existing functionality (at least my original request). It says in addition to the current option of only including child playlists that were selected when you originally selected them (which is what you seem to want), my new 3rd state...

[1452] Tagging performance - Improved SQL Query [#8626]

I have been looking at the debug log when I am tagging, via drag drop (onto a MagicNode) I see this statement multiple times: [6020] 6224 DB open SQL: SELECT NULL FROM Songs WHERE Songs.IDFolder in (SELECT IDChildFolder FROM FoldersHier WHERE IDFolder=3) LIMIT 1 [6020] 6224 DB lock finished, took 16...
