Unwanted Subscriptions For Imported Podcasts

I recently added some podcasts from iTunes into MediaMonkey (MM). When I checked my podcast subscriptions in the Podcast branch of the Media Tree, I discovered that MediaMonkey had added partial subscriptions for the imported podcasts (the subscription did not have the podcast URL). I've had this ha...

Re: Rating distribution

I'd presume that most don't rate for a certain distribution, but instead to indicate how much they like the track. That's what I do when rating tracks, and to indicate which tracks I want on my player (tracks rated three stars or above). The only limit I have is how many songs will fit on my player...

Re: Empty Playlists

I don't know if this is related but this happens on my Sony Walkman with one of my playlists, one containing my rated podcasts. Walkman players put podcasts in a separate folder (called "PODCASTS") from the one used for music (called "MUSIC"). I use a playlist to sync podcasts to...

Re: Title Issue With AAC Files

Thanks for the feedback. Your comment about AAC files not supporting tags pointed me in a direction about researching the issue on the Internet. It seems that although AAC files do contain metadata (each metadata item is called an atom), it's not as structured as ID3 tags are, and when you're using ...

Title Issue With AAC Files

I've recently started to have an issue with two of my unprotected AAC files in MediaMonkey. I recently re-imported my music into MediaMonkey. As usual, when I checked the imported AAC files, the title in each file had been replaced by two symbols that each look like a diamond with a question mark in...

Re: Overlong filenames

I had a concern about the length of the file name since I purchased an album of harpsichord music (Bach: Complete Works For Harpsichord) that had tracks with extremely long filenames (some exceeding 100 characters). I organize my music into one folder as follows: <Album Artist>\<Album>\<Title>. To a...

Re: Why do we still call them Albums?

After posting, I did some thinking and the use of the term "album" for music might have been influenced by photo albums. I remember that some 78 RPM records were grouped together (since they were two songs per disc) in a binder that, when closed, looked like a photo album.

Re: Why do we still call them Albums?

It's likely a case of tradition, one that will be difficult to supplant with another term (such as "music collection"). For decades a collection of songs have been called an album regardless of the format. Plus, the music album is a somewhat recent development which didn't become into exis...

Re: 160 GB Library -> Only 110 GB on Device - How to proceed

I use ratings to control what is loaded on my player, with items that rated 3 stars or higher loaded on my player. In the device's profile, I set the autosync preferences to only load items with those ratings. Then, by making an autoplaylist of items rated 3 stars or higher you can see what will be ...

Re: quality setting according to type of audio

I think the original poster means the ability to set a specific quality level for different types of audio files. I rip my audio files to FLAC and use MediaMonkey's auto conversion function to convert the files to MP3 when it loads them on my player. But I'm limited to having them all converted to t...

AAC Encoding Settings

I was interested in encoding my music in the AAC (M4A) format, so I purchased MediaMonkey's codec pack which included AAC encoding. After installing the codec pack and ripping a few tracks at the maximum VBR quality (100% = ~ 209 kbps) I checked the resulting files in MediaMonkey and I noticed that ...

Estimated Amount To Be Synced During Autoconversion

I've recently re-ripped a majority of my music collection to FLAC. MediaMonkey does have the ability to autoconvert the files to which ever audio format and quality level I choose when sending my files to my player during syncing. A problem I've had is that I can't tell ahead of time if the files I'...

Re: 320 or FLAC?

I really can't tell the difference between 320 and FLAC, 320 MP3 is smaller in filesize though, and more widely supported on portable players, so it's generally the format I prefer. I doubt I'd be able to tell the difference between an MP3 encoded at 320kbps CBR and a FLAC of the same song. As I me...

Re: 320 or FLAC?

At your suggestion I did the same thing too. It's better to be able to reduce the quality if it's required, than being stuck with lower kpbs. I've started re-ripping my library to FLAC. That way I don't have to re-rip and re-tag them again if I decide to go from, as an example, a LAME MP3 encoded a...
