Re: Convert mapped drive to UNC
I really hate to bump this thread, but I had some info that will help others in my situation. For a UNC path, IDMedia is always 1. Hence, moving stuff around between various UNC paths is as simple as running the update statement above with the "replace()" function in there. I seem to reorg...

Permanent copy of auto-converted files?
I keep the majority of my library in FLAC. I have nearly 94GB of FLAC across almost 300 albums. I have been using MM to transcode on the fly to MP3 and sync with my iPod. However, I've recently had to wipe the iPod, which means I have to wait as all of the transcoding makes the sync take FAR longer ...

Sample rate conversion during sync
I keep all of my music as FLAC. I have a very small amount of albums that were purchased as FLAC directly from the musician (one album is from Barenaked Ladies, for instance). These albums are delivered at the original DAT sample rate of 48000 Hz. Typical CD-audio is only 44100 Hz. When I convert th...

Re: More on the iPod "compilation" flag
Well, that is stupid of them, because there's a separate tag for Composer and iTunes (and iPods) even uses it.With classical music, some people use the "album artist" field for the composer. This makes every classical album appear as a compilation.

Re: [RC1] AlbumArt is lost after Rebuild Device Database in
I own an 80GB iPod Video (5th Gen). All songs are correctly synced with album covers, via MM3. When I choose "Rebuild Device Database" in MM3, its database IS rebuilt, but album covers aren't displayed in iPod afterwards. I have a 6th gen / "classic" and I don't lose them all, b...

This can be removed / canceled. I thought it was an MM3 bug or missing feature, but in reality I had a mistagged album. :) In short - if your Album Artist tag doesn't match Artist, and you sync to a modern iPod, the album *will* be marked a compilation, or at least you won't get artist clutter from ...

[bug] (missing feature?) iPod Compilation album support
With iTunes, there's an option (under "get info") you can set on a group of songs to mark them as a compilation album. When you do this, the individual "Artist"s on that album DO NOT get entries on the iPod's Artist list, you get the Album Artist (i.e. "Various") instea...

ZPrime do you have any files/ compilation albums etc... that exhibit or corroborate this behavior in MM3? Only the ones that I have accidentally tagged like your library (Album Artist == Artist, which isn't correct). Do you have compilation albums in which MM3 places the artist in the album artist ...

B4 and Vista - ignores an MM.ini file placed in its folder
Maybe I'm doing this wrong; I was originally following the instructions for MM2, but then I realized that the DB format had changed for MM3. I am running Vista, but I have UAC disabled and I'm an Administrator, so I have full access to Program Files and such. The FAQ for MM2 says to put a add a line...

Custom iPod metadata?
This is a feature that I've only found in one place, and that is the foo_pod add-in for foobar2000. At first glance it sounds like a feature you'd never use, but once you start playing with it it is incredibly powerful. It has two options, pre-entered mode and "generic." In pre-entered mod...
