When downloading podcasts got a whole bunch of "media monkey is attempting to elevate privileges" messages
Haven't had that happen before. Gave about four or five such messages, and when I told it not to allow privilege elevation it reported a failure to download four or five podcasts. What's that about? Edit - seems this is the wrong forum, as I have MM 4.1.31.19.19 Edit2 - now realised the hard drive r...

Re: People who have massive collections
I think I have about 100,000+ tracks, and for the most part MM works fine...with the exception of reverse-lookup of playlists. If I right-click on a track and let the mouse stray over the 'playlist' entry (that is supposed to let you select from a drop-down menu of all the playlists this track appea...

Custom "Type" field
Is there any way to set the "type" field to something other than the fixed choices of music, podcast, audiobook, classical music, music video...etc? Some "tracks" aren't really any of those, being, for example, recordings of old radio programs, or my own - digitised - recordings ...

Re: When making smart playlist can album/podcast be restricted to given media type
Yeah, sorry, didn't say it clearly. I don't mean 'media type' as in codec, I mean as in 'podcast' vs 'music' vs 'audiobook' - as selected in the 'search' box at the top of the autoplaylist settings dialog. Clearly MM has a concept of the difference between those things, as you can confine searches t...

When making smart playlist can album/podcast be restricted to given media type
If I want to create a smart playlist, using 'advanced' mode, and I pick "podcast equals..." I get a radio-button checklist of podcast titles to pick from...except it's not just podcast titles, it includes every title of every music album in there as well, even if I've already specified 'po...

Re: Weird bug with smart playlists and date ranges [#17172]
As I say, it really isn't a big problem, but I'm puzzled what's so special about October - guessing it's something to do with being the first two-digit month? It's two issues, really - doesn't show anything if I do one for October, and if I do one for November it then wrongly includes October as wel...

Well, I'm trying to follow the info on including screenshots, but it doesn't seem to be working right - image not appearing.

Weird bug with smart playlists and date ranges [#17172]
This is a hard bug to describe. I make smart playlists of podcasts based on their "Date" fields. One per month. So "November 2020 podcasts", for example. Uses the 'advanced' smart-playlist option, to set 'date between' 1/11/2020 and 1/12/2020, for example (with european date form...

Re: database full of missing entries for podcast episodes
Possibly the issue is because of deleting episodes that are no longer available from the podcast server. But I don't want to risk deleting things in order to experiment to confirm that.

Re: database full of missing entries for podcast episodes
They were deleted from within MM itself. Yes, if I uncheck that button the missing links are no longer shown. If I do that though, it then doesn't list them as available to be downloaded again. Seems as if the null links are still in the database, but doing that suppresses displaying them. Which is ...

Re: database full of missing entries for podcast episodes
This is not really an issue for MM in particular, but I do wish there was a generally-agreed standard for exporting auto or smart playlists, as there is for normal playlists. Seems as if clearing out the database to start again would lose all the smart playlists (of which I have zillions).

database full of missing entries for podcast episodes
I think I've asked about this before, but I somehow managed to fix it, but the problem keeps coming back. If I delete unwanted (or corrupted) podcast episodes, quite frequently MM won't cleanly delete them, but instead replaces them with an entry with an "unknown" location. In the case of ...

Re: Can't get tagger to work
OK, for some reason it didn't have those values as the defaults (something else, with "US" in it, can't remember what it was now) I changed it to those values and now it (the musicbrainz tagger) is working. Thanks very much for your help.

Re: Can't get tagger to work
OK, seem to have the discogs tagging working now (I think was doing the 'authorisation' and pressing 'OK' in the wrong order before)

Re: Can't get tagger to work
Thanks. I don't know how to fill in the options for using FreeDB - what to put for server name, user name, user domain. If I leave the defaults it just says it can't find the cd in the database (for any cd I try)
