Re: Monkey Rok 4.0 [MM2+3]

I've just noticed that when using composer as the seed field, no albums by or albums featuring are displayed. The panels themselves are missing as MR does when it can't find any associated hits. I know I definitely have more than one album for a number of composers, so I'm not sure why this is happe...

Re: Why Songbird will succeed where MM fails

I agree with Dale's position that new users may currently be overwhelmed by MM's options, and possibly hiding (at least initially) some of the features may have a lot of merit. One method which I've seen adopted by many applications is allowing users at the install stage to select either a simple or...

Re: Why Songbird will succeed where MM fails

I don't mind the look of MM3 at the moment. I find the default skin appealing, and what minor visual issues I do have largely seem to be there as a by-product of "function over form" decisions. Sure, there could be some small sprucing such as some elements mentioned above, but what to chan...

Re: Quintessential Media Player is Back!

I regard it higher than that mate. I have always loved the crisp sound of this player. Auto prune is a great feature also. But I know MM has a similar feature. "Crisp sound"? What does Quintessential Media Player user for its Audio Output Plugin (is it better than MM's)? I understand if y...

Re: Songbird scripts and plugins

There are a LOT of scripts available for MM, but the method of finding them (forum search) is far from optimal... This is certainly an area which needs a cleanup and a more formalised structure. I'm fairly sure that the dev's have it on their to-do list.

Re: Ripping from DVD

There are a number of products around to rip audio out of DVD's (not so much specific DVD-Audio titles though). The one I use is called DVD Audio Extractor . It's not freeware, but it's farily simple and I find it does an admirable job of the task required. There is a 30 day trial version if you wan...

Re: MediaMonkey v i.Tunes

At least you can now decide which tracks you want to convert, previously you had to convert your whole library. Really? I upgraded 142 of my tracks only last week, and had no option of choosing which to convert... :( Sounds like I must have only just missed the launch. Oh well, I'm sure removing al...

Re: MediaMonkey v i.Tunes

iTunes is now converting the entire catalogue to non-DRM files (ie. iTunes Plus format)... at least in Australia, so I suppose elsewhere too. EDIT: All Media Converter is fine, but it needs to be used with care. From what I can tell, it removes DRM by effectively playing the file and re-recording th...

Re: A comparison of MP3-decoders for MM3

I am not having any problems with this plugin, but I don't recall having the problems you mention with v14. Actually come to think of it, I get a little stutter in the now playing song when I edit any tag details.... but I am pretty sure I also got that in MM default. And I don't really use the ana...

Re: A comparison of MP3-decoders for MM3

There is a newer version of the MAD plugin. Here is the link to the forum with instructions on how to download and set it up. http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=22807&start=0 Have you found this v15b version of the plugin much better than v14? I tried v14 and although the ...

Re: steve jobs steps down from control of apple

lol - it does sometimes seem to take a while for certain news to filter down under. The Australian IT news web-column (the one linked in my earlier post) still has nothing about this new development. *sigh*

Re: Media Monkey type program for photos?

I second ACDSee. I've tried numerous apps, and for various reasons keep coming back to ACDSee. It's possible to create a very complex (and complete) nested catalogue system which can be used to multi-filter displayed images using either an AND or an OR styled simple selection system.

Re: Why Songbird will succeed where MM fails

In red: No title bar for the window. Files,Edit, controls , ... are on the same level as the close, restore, minimize buttons. =>More space, cleaner and simpler. I agree, this is a cool feature. However, I don't know of a single other app that puts the menus in the titlebar. Its definitely a non-standa...

Re: steve jobs steps down from control of apple

I think rumours of Steve Jobs' ill health might be a little premature: "Steve Jobs has announced that his weight loss is due to a hormone imbalance, rather than the resurgence of pancreatic cancer, and has insisted that he has no plans to step down as Apple chief executive." (ITnews 06/01/...
