Re: Some DLNA questions

I have also Allowed devices, closed out MM to ensure it "saves" the file it puts the device allowance in. And it still loses devices, but not immediatly after restarting the program. So its not due to WHS rebooting after updates are installed and Force Closing MM if needed to reboot. WHS2011 is a st...

Re: Some DLNA questions

I don't think that will work as I usually don't watch it that close. And you might not be interested in chasing through a months worth of log time to look for whats going on. I just dropped a edit into the post about the xbox vanishing. The Tablet didn't vanish and it was added at the same time. Add...

Re: Some DLNA questions

With auto unchecked, and notify of new checked, the xbox gets denied access (makes sense as its not on the auth list). But I did NOT get notified on new devices wanting access.

Re: Some DLNA questions

Its only the devices under the Access control List that get lost with annoying regularlity. Since my last post.. the Xbox has vanished from the list.. and I had JUST allowed it before that post. By minutes. But the Tablet which was allowed at the same time, did not. There are also two entries for Bu...

Re: Is there a way to send media to client.

There is a "workaround" way to do it but it requires an alternate device. iOS and Android both have Control Point software packages you can install on the phones/tablets and use it to control your DLNA devices. For android I recommend BubbleUPnP.

Re: Some DLNA questions

Ensure you have RECENTLY allowed the device on the MM DLNA server for access. Right now (4.0.6) it has a tendancy to forget devices. I have allowed my tablet, phone, xbox, etc numerous times. It constantly loses them. I have Automatically Allow enabled.. but this doesn't work. I have to manually all...

Re: Possible to play audio w/o MM taking window focus?

You mean you're opening a file from Windows Explorer (or any other application) with MediaMonkey (which wasn't running)? Regardless of MM running or not, he's commanding Explorer(WindowsShell) to do it. MM will be forced by WindowsShell into the forefront generally will it not? not much can be done...

Re: Replace a song with a dummy file?

If you really want to do it though, create a 1 second WAV file that is empty of any audio. convert it to MP3. You now have a file that will take about..... .00001 seconds for MM to play. You can copy this file as many as times as you want, it'll be tagable and be the placeholder you want. Kinda sill...

Re: Replace a song with a dummy file?

Storage is dirt cheap as mentioned before. WHy bother? I actually still compress CD's into Mp3 instead of just using a Lossless, But I use V0, Extreme, Min 256, Max 320. DVD rips I convert/Compress into a H264 format for MM to handle across my network via DLNA. My server is as a Raid5 5TB array. I'l...

Re: "Mediahouse" for Android, play music from MM4

With this app I can finally hear my music in the entire flat, wherever I have a wireless connection. Pro: - scans automatically for UPnP / DLNA-Mediaserver - you can even forward music to another media renderer (Play to) - you can see the album cover, some tag informations and a simple music player...

Re: Xbox 360 Sees ALL media, not just shared!

Windows7, and likely Windows Vista provide DLNA access through the Library functions. So if you have shared them via the Library its possible the access is coming from that.

Re: MM on WHS using PS3 as DLNA Client

MM DLNA runs fine on WHS2011. I have the firewall turned off on the server (its behind my router which has its own firewall.) You may have to ensure you have properly opened ports in the WHS firewall or just shut it off. I access it from my 360 mainly, my phone and tablet can see it via BubbleUPNP a...

Do you want the external access to play to your phone from anywhere? For this I use AudioGalaxy. Though its another little app to have constantly running in the background on your systems.

Re: Network DB extremely slow

at nearly 11K tracks I don't yet see this problem, though i am hosting the DB on a WHS2011 system. 2 fulltime running clients (one on the server for DLNA devices, one on my HTPC for piping music into my backyard via the wireless speakers I have. Laptop connects at random. usually add music from it t...
