Re: Column Browser Floating Free

Although it takes some rather fine manuevering to get it to do this, eventually I can get it anchored. But why do I have to do this everytime I start MM? Isn't there something I can do to make it stay there?

Column Browser Floating Free

I know I have seen discussions of this before, but I couldn't find it using search. I normally have my display set up so that the media tree occupies the left pane, Now Playing and Art and Details occupy the right pane, media player is across the bottom of the screen. In the middle pane I used have ...

Re: genre TAG problem

I must confess I don't understand at all the concept "genre must be correct". Genre is not a fact, but an opinion. Something you might want to tag as blues, I might want to tag as jazz. Just check any Miles Davis album on freedb to see how often exactly the same album gets tagged with different genr...

Not sure just what I did, but the tracks now imported with no problems. Mystery overcome (but not actually solved).

Can't Import Tracks

For some reason MM will not import some MP3 tracks. I have checked Entire Library and used search to find song titles, but to no avail. I did that even though MM told me at the end of the import sequence that it had imported 0 files and updated 0 files, a pretty good hint that I wouldn't find them. ...

Re: Multiple disk albums & auto-organise

That's exactly what I needed. I did not know there could be if clauses in the formats. It's good to know.

Multiple disk albums & auto-organise

I have used the very handy auto-organise feature, but need some advice on how to handle albums with multiple disks. For various reasons I would like these albums to have the following structure: Drive:\Folder\Artist\Album\Disc #\Track # Title while single disk albums should be: Drive:\Folder\Artist\...

Re: High resolution downloads

In addition to what was listed on the site in the link, I would add: 1) Nonesuch records offers nearly all their releases in FLAC. They don't specify the quality so I assume it is 16 bit 44.1 K 2) Presto Classical offers a good portion of its newer albums in FLAC (most I have seen are 16-bit 44.1K) ...

Re: Best practices in tagging

MM (at least in version 4, I didn't use earlier versions) has several ways to "roll up" genres (and other album & track properties). I wrote above about using a collection as a roll up. You can also use automatic playlists. Any recording gets automatically put (by MM) in my jazz collection if the ge...

Re: Best practices in tagging

Iver, I created a Jazz collection (to parallel the Classical Music Collection that comes with MM). File > Manage Collections > Add new collection. (You may have to scroll down in the right panel of the options box that comes up to find the Add new... option.) This serves to group all the genres that...

Re: RegExp Find & Replace 4.3 w/ 253 presets (2011-07-06) [M

Regretably I only know a little about using regular expressions, but have been learning. My current issue is how to deal with variable, but fixed length content. Here's the specific example. I have a long list of Schubert Lieder (prolific hardly describes his output) where the titles are currently o...

Re: Not syncing new additions to a playlist

This is exactly what I am saying. Surely no one thinks that this is how MM should work, but it is exactly how MM does work. It needs to be fixed.

Re: Not syncing new additions to a playlist

Then I have a very simple question. How do I auto-sync new tracks - tracks that are not on the iPod - to my iPod?
nohitter151 wrote: No, because it only happens when you create and/or edit the playlist from the iPod.

Re: Not syncing new additions to a playlist

Pretty much that's the case. If MM scans the iPod before auto-sync (and I do not know how to prevent that), it will delete any new tracks from a playlist selected for auto-sync.

Re: Not syncing new additions to a playlist

Then this seems a serious flaw in MM. If true in its absolute form, it would never be possible to add a song to an iPod using a playlist since MM would always clear the song from the playlist because it wasn't already on the iPod. Of course, that doesn't happen. MM will sync a new track to the iPod,...
