Prevent tracks from being added to the library?
I have 3 locations in my library: 1. the "real" library with tagged files 2. a folder (actually a hard disk) for "new" MP3 3. my UMS compatible portable media player (Cowon A2). My work flow is to put new songs in location 2, tag them and move them to location 1, then (eventually...

I would very much like that option as well. It's part of my "ID3 fields wishlist".
See this thread.
Is there any chance that Id3 field support will be extended in the future?
(Meaning, is there a plan to actively develop it for the next version of Media Monkey? Just wondering)

What you describe sounds pretty close to my own problem/request about being able to backup and restore all fields from a song to another one. What astonishes me the most is that I have not found ANY program capable of doing this! Sure it would be a great addition to MM, but that's the kind of functi...

Update a new file with ALL tag information from an old file?
I ripped all my music (back in the old days) to 128kbps CBR and tagged it extensively. But now I'd really like to get "better" versions of my files, ripping them with higher bitrate and a better encoder. Question: how can I transfer all the tag information from my "old" files to ...

MCSmarties, WOW, that research is impressive, and I have to agree with you that it will be best for MM to conform to an existing standard and not implement more custom fields. Thank you, just trying to do my part... I always bug people in the scripts forum so I figure it's only fair if I try to giv...

I voted yes - the more plugins the better! For me, Allmusic, Musicbrainz and Arkivmusic (extensive classical music database) would be favorites. While Amazon is far from ideal, I do like it for the following reasons: - wide selection. If you search on amazon.fr or amazon.de you get a lot of hits for...

Wow guys, I just found this thread and this script looks like an awesome idea! I was wondering about a few things (maybe I don't quite understand how it works). 1. What happens if you don't start Mediamonkey at all for some time? Does this affect the ratings in any way? (in other words, is the time ...

Obviously I had this data in a table but well, I couldn't post in that format. I think there are several reasons for these differences. One, ID3 is only an INFORMAL standard, it's unfortunately not BINDING. Two, the specifications are not always entirely clear and I guess some programmers just didn'...
