Windows does it not sure why the difference in drivers for front and rear headphones but maybe yours goes to the wrong one? Or gets stuck in transition.

i think the remove was done to help when going between the mini and main players which the av effect sometimes needs a kick in the a.... to get the images all loaded.

when you place in headphones windows automatically changes sound drivers to the headphone drivers,
this might be the reason for the loss of connection to mm.
