I know you can use an iPod, iPhone or iPad to as a remote for MediaMonkey that is running on a computer (to do this see MonkeyTunes). However I am just wondering if anyone knows whether you can have your media on a ReadyNAS box and have MonkeyMedia running on it and control it with the apple remote. Thus no other computer in between? Basically I am wanting to come home and turn my ReadyNAS, DAC and AMP on and then start playing music via Remote on iPod touch.

No, you can't run MediaMonkey on it. You can however bypass MediaMonkey if your NAS and playback device support DLNA.

Ok thanks. However how would it then be controlled. IE would NAS have to be an itunes server and controlled by Remote that way. Can you please provide more information? I was hoping to avoid itunes and I very muck like MankeyMedia and it's usability. Just wanting the convenience of controlling, searching and playing with ease from the iPod as it is with the Remote app.

You might want to ask this question on the ReadyNAS forums.
If you want to use MediaMonkey you'll need to have a computer running it.
