bug in smart-amp ?

Post by Guest »

I usually rip my CDs to MP3 using the ┤Quality: Very High┤ setting
(CBR, Stereo, 128 Kbit). The ripped MP3s play very well anywhere
I tried them including WinAmp, MS Media Player, my DVD and portable
CD player. The only exception is Songs-DB. I hear low-frequency
clicks and artifacts in the songs. I did some tests with ┤Quality: Normal┤
setting and there were no disturbances. Could this be a bug in the
Songs-DB player ? Or just some weirdnes of my computer ?

I noticed this behaviour in Songs-DB 1.2 and it is still present in
Songs-DB 1.3

I have never noticed such a problem. However you can easily try to correct it: Songs-DB uses plug-ins for playback, so you can replace the default one (in_dsmp3.dll) by the one distributed with WinAmp or by MAD (in_mad.dll). You can also change the output plug-in, but it shouldn't cause any problem. The only internal thing that can affect playback is the normalization, but it shouldn't cause problems too.

I'd like to know about your results.

Thanks,
Jiri
