Scan path on hard disk

Post by klaus »

Problems with "Scan Path". When I try to scan a folder for all MP3 files
it mostly ends without scanning the whole folder. Only one out of ten is
successful. I am using WIN98SE and Songs-DB 1.3.
Scanning CD-Roms was no problem. I tested it with 7 to 30 files in one
folder but the number of files did not matter. I stopped all other programs
but there was no improvement.
I tried to find the "DEBUG" download but could not find it.
Any idea ?

How did you find it out? I mean if there are any files (mp3) that you see on your harddisk, but then they are not scanned and you cannot see them for example in the database folder? I would be very surprised if something like that happened. Don't you only mean, that the progress bar doesn't go to the end (which is caused by no prior knowledge of number of files, before the actual scan is made)? If not, then please try to send me some more details or to try if the scan stops on any particular song.

The debug version is not accessible now, because we are moving to a new webhosting, but it will appear again during the next week. However, I think that it wouldn't help in this case.

Example: I scan a folder which has 9 MP3 files in it. Thats what I know
from the explorer. I understand that the progress bar will stop somehere
in the middle and I just try to see the highest number processed.
After the few successful scannings I find a folder in your databese under
SCANS which contains a subfolder with the timestamp of that scan.
I think it is under the main folder PLAYLISTS. If I unsuccessfully rescan
the same folder a few minutes later, there is no new folder with the new
timestamp.

Ok, we have finished the discussion by e-mail. Just for information (for others) - new playlist in "Playlists\Scan Results" is created just for newly scanned songs, not for songs that are being updated in the database.
