I use the "Grouping" tag for music categories that are'nt really Genres (IMO). EG:-
Female Vocal
String Quartets
OZ Music (Australian Music)

This way i can easily set up a Library filter for example to group all my Australian Music in one place. Makes it a lot easier to find things if you've got a large library.

I used to use one of the Custom Fields to note things like "--Album--" if it's a full album, or "--Misc--" if it's just a loose song downloaded from the artist's website or something, along with a couple others. I would then use these for Auto-Organize, to put albums in an "AlbumArtist/Album" structure under their Genre, while dumping all the loose things (--Misc--) in a "!--Misc--!" folder under the Genre. Recently, I moved this information from the Custom Field to the Grouping Field. So, yeah, that's what I use it for.

i like to use the grouping tag to group music into major genre groups, the list is; audiobooks, blues, classic rock, classical, country, dance, electronic, folk, hard rock, hip-hop, indie, jazz, kids, metal, pop, psytrance, punk, reggae, rock, soul . This makes it very handy to setup a quick filter and remove for example all kids, audiobooks, folk and jazz, or for file naming and storing major groups like audiobooks in a different place. all the group tags are also included into the multi genre tags to make it easy to search for an all encompassing genre or be able to narrow it down to a few of the 200 or so genres used.

with MyCustomNodes http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =2&t=24846 its pretty easy to setup new nodes in the tree to be able to view grouping as its not there by default. an example custom ini file for mycustomnodes is here that implements grouping http://tiptoes.hobby-site.com/mbz/lastf ... mNodes.ini . if you want to automate the grouping task you can read more here http://tiptoes.hobby-site.com/mbz/lastf ... mplus.html where i have tryed to explain it more.
