Hi all,
Using MediaMonkey for over a year now. Great product.
Just one problem. I'm updating my tags often.
The point is my Genres are then duplicated sometimes.
(--> means edit moment (can be a long time after te previous edit moment)
Alternative Pop and Folk --> Alternative Pop; Folk --> Alternative; Pop; Folk --> Alternative Pop; Pop; Folk --> Alternative; Pop; Pop; Folk --> Alternative; Alternative Pop; Pop; Pop; Folk
Now I want to organize my genres If possible, in 3 ways:
1. Sort alphabetically
2. Remove Duplicate (Pop in this example)
3. Asign aliasses (also for artist for example when an artist performs with multiple artist-names (or Cast Roles), or when an artist is Part of a Group So the number is stored in the Group and with the artist (without tagging it multipe (or in this case only tag "Alternative Pop" will show the file in "Alternative", "Pop" and "Alternative Pop"))
Are (some of) these options possible?

Re: Organize Genre
1) Haven't seen a solution for that
2) That seems to be a bug for allowing it in the first place
3) No

Re: Organize Genre
Hi Lowlander,
Thank you.
1) I was thinking of the regex-replace addon, but I could not think of a good Regex
2) Sure, but the bug is still there so maybe someone else has a solution?
3) I will have to think of a solution myself than, maybe I will create an addon... (Or has someone else made a (alpha- beta-) addon for this?)
The topic mentioned is great for making sure tags are consistent ("pop" and "pop" (not "pop" and "PoP")) while the tags can not be changed in the node, this is not a good solution for my problem. But thank you for mention it....

Re: Organize Genre
Update:
The "bug" is not found on 3.2.2.1300 anymore so Pop;Alternative;Pop will become Pop;Alternative.
Only sorting alphabetically and adding aliases is needed.

Update 2:
The Bug is still there. Sorry for the previous post.
When you rename the tags with the regex-plugin.
This is a mm-bug. Also when a plugin renames the tags, it must be deduped....

Re: Organize Genre
You might also want to note this in the RegExp thread as this probably should be prevented in the addon as well.
