Comments Field

Post by karimleo »

Hi there, in my MM library, I have comments to some of my MP3s. However I can't remember which ones. I would now like to have an Auto Playlist that only shows songs with any text in the Comment field but I can't seem to get it working.

Any ideas?

Personally I use magic nodes to achieve this. Details can be found on my website.

The node would be: Comments\<comment|trim:25>

Try using a vowel such as 'a'

ie Comments > Contains > a

Most comments would likely contain the letter 'a'

Alternatively, you could use the Magic Nodes script and use the mask:

Comments|icon:top level\<comment|trim:25>

The magic nodes website has lots of info on installing it. You simply download the script and put it in your Scripts\Auto folder, then (re)start MM. Now in the menu (edit i think!) there is the option to "create magic node" or something. Type or paste the text in there. Then in the tree structure there will be a "magic nodes" node, and in there should be a node called "Comments". This node should contain all your songs with comments.

Hope this helps! :)

P.S. Better luck next time pah68!

One more thing Trix, I have changed the Custom 3 field to now be Alt. Album (for when a song is on an artist's album and a soundtrack album). I've made a magic node that shows Alt. Albums but I think the "album" field is showing up because it shows the same word. Is it possible to filter out "album" and keep "Alt. Album"?

Alt. Albums\<Alt. Album>

Should there be more?

Try Alt. Albums\<Custom 3> instead.

I think you need a 3rd qualifier like Alt. Albums\<Alt. Album>\<Artist>

Unfortunately it doesn't quite work. The comments node works perfectly, when I click on the node, only the songs with comments appear. However with the Alt. Album node, they all appear and are then listed in their seperate nodes under the main one. I know it must be tricky but any other suggestions?

thx

Here is the "Comments" Node. This works fine. It only shows the files I've added a comment to.

Now here is the Alt. Album field. See I've only got a few files with the Alt. Album (Custom 3) field filled but it displays them all.
