Nested Playlists

Post by OtakuScientist »

Hello all,

I would like to understand what the current situation is for "nested" auto playlists. I was expecting some form of attribute inheritance from parent > child, or visa versa.

Based on my experimentation no such inheritance exists.

This was discussed many years ago. See;
https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5063

Currently it appears that mmw only uses nested playlists for grouping playlists together. Possibly to make syncing easier.

I did a quick search on the forums, as well as the Wiki. Information related to how this function is intended to work seems to be a bit sparse. Perhaps my search-fu is weak.

Could you point me to some information on how nested playlists are meant to be used?

Thanks.

There is no inheritance, it's organizational (and maintained in MediaMonkey for Android too, on sync). You can do this yourself using AutoPlaylists with the Criteria Playlists Is. This will actually allow you to pick and choose which Playlists shall be used, including those located with other Parents.
