Database Problems

Post by sallenmd87 »

Been having a lot of discouraging problems with MM4 (latest version) the past many months. Randomly corrupting AAC and ALAC files, and enough other annoyances that I am considering abandoning it. I have 240K tracks on a 4TB external SSD. Running portable from that drive. Just started getting this error on startup. Click "Cancel" once or "Ignore" twice and then it seems to run okay. Any ideas? Thanks.

There was a problem querying the database: Could not retrieve data "SELECT ID FROM MediaServers WHERE UseAsSynchServer = 1" : database disk image is malformed (11, 11)

That indicates a database corruption: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... -malformed

Hi,
Random Corruption following taht error msg usually point to HDD failure not MM4 issue.

I would suggest that you backup MM.db (eg. MediaMonkey Library), Compress it and send us thru some filesharing service (dropbox, one drive, mega.nz, rapidgator,...) and then open support ticket pointing to this topic link an dDL link to compressed and uploaded MM.DB.

Maybe things can be salvaged.

You can locate MM.DB at these paths shown in http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... le/View/16

I just had MM replace all of my artists names with the track numbers. Had several other database corruptions as well. There's something screwy going on for large collections. BTW: running 2TB of uncompressed files.

WAV has no proper tagging standard which is where the problem lies (this is why many choose FLAC). This means that when importing files you often run into issues with tags when using WAV files.

Infer File Properties auto-guesses from filename, my preference is to leave this off and use Tools > Auto-Tag from Filename manually: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index. ... lename/4.0
