Get duplicates importing music to MM

I have new puter and trying to get my music into MM. But it seems to duplicate almost every song at least once. And alot 3 and 4 times. If I go and look at the files there is only one copy in the file. Files are from same location but the duplicates are followed by a date and utc code or something. I have about 3000 songs and it said it was importing 37,000 or so. but when done said 9000 and some were imported.This also happened in itunes. Please can you help.

Sounds like you have actual duplicates (maybe from the way you copied the files). You can confirm this in File Explorer if there are actual duplicate files.
