Migrating From Portable to Desktop Install

Post by AZA »

I've been using the portable version for a few years and want to switch to the desktop version. I've got a lot of playlists and some extensions, etc. I'm not sure where to put the contents of the portable folder within the new desktop installation folder. What else do I need to do in order to retain as much as possible? (Ideally, keeping configuration and other settings)

Hi,
I would not suggest that you keep MediaMonkey.ini as it set to work with Portable version. If I was on your place I would do this:
1. Delete all content from "c:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey\" (if exist and if not create that folder)
2. copy only MM.DB to c:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey\MM.DB
3. Install regular version of MM (Cancel launch on end of installation)
4. Start MM and Cancel initial First start wizard
5. Try to set it up as close as portable version (eg. Enter license, set same DLNA port settings, UI layout, ...)
