Old Podcast Episode help

So I'm wanting to use MediaMonkey as my one stop shop for all media on both my computer & android phone, but running into some questions with the podcast feature. Pretty much most of my podcasts I listen to have a lot of episodes going back 5+ years. I only want the latest unplayed episodes to download, but can't seem to find a way to mark podcasts as played without having to download them first. Any advice?
