New to MM and am liking it more and more. Not a techie, but can follow directions.
This is what I'm trying to do. I have one laptop dedicated to music only which is HDMI connected to my smart TV. I use MM to play my mp3 library through my sound system. This works great! I have a second laptop (my primary) which also has MM installed. This laptop is used to capture and edit music from various sources. Currently, when I get a new album I add it to my data files and scan it into MM. My wish is to be able to update the media laptop as seamlessly as possible.
Now, the 2 laptops are networked (Windows 10). I copy the new album to the media laptop (connected to an external 1TB drive). I then have to scan the new folder into the media laptop MM library. It becomes rather burdensome. Is there any way to streamline this process? I would appreciate any advise.

Folder Monitoring can automate the scanning: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index. ... he_Library
If you're just playing you can also use DLNA to stream: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index. ... ervers/4.0

Re: SETTING UP A MEDIA SERVER
Lowlander is right ... the automated scanning will be your best bet. Once you start it there is not much you have to do. Just drop the folder of tracks onto the 'watched' drive/directory and it will bring it into your library.

Re: SETTING UP A MEDIA SERVER
I am trying to setup File Monitoring on both computers by scanning continuously on both. My network works fine. However, when I try to set up the monitor ans select network my networked computer does not show up as an option. Under Network it displays: Microsoft Terminal Services - Microsoft Windows Network - Web Client Network.
I have tried several times to figure out if one of these can be used to access my computer.
Any advise?

Re: SETTING UP A MEDIA SERVER
You can use the box under to type (copy & paste) the Path you want scanned and then use the Add button to Add it the list.

Re: SETTING UP A MEDIA SERVER
This is Common issue as Microsoft removed WINS and Master browser elections from OS and it all started with Windows 10 1703 where my QNAP NAS started to be missing from LAN and listed as CIFS/SMB(Samba) server. I have already covered this in forum and after my recent power outrage and damage in my infrastructure will cover it again when I get things back to normal.ifishnc wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 2:49 pm I am trying to setup File Monitoring on both computers by scanning continuously on both. Shortly said, today many jobs that Browser service was turned to Routers and Domain Services along with wide introduction of IPv6 addressing it got bit complicated and old things even they are working proposed security risks and holes, where current approach to disable/remove those services is not the best solution.
That said I would also like to confirm that connecting to Second PC by entering ditect IP address instead of PC name in 99% of cases fixes the problem.
