Auto DJ huge delay with new version [#16574]
With 4.1.28.1905 (or any of the RCs), my auto DJ went from a 5-8 second delay to a 70 second delay.
This delay is brutal and makes auto DJ unusable. Since I rely on it a lot, I reverted to .27 and it works fine.
The playlist is an auto playlist from a library of about 250k mp3s.
The auto playlist itself opens fast enough (about 2 seconds delay).
Pretty much everything is working fine except for the auto DJ delay, but it's a crucial part of my MM usage, so I can't give that up.

Hi,
Are you running any other scripts that may interfere with MM?
I have library arround 250k and had no issues to Use AutoDJ.

Re: Auto DJ huge delay with new version
Not really. The only scripts I have are action ones, like discogs tagger, clear field, tag inconsistencies, etc. Nothing that would, in principle, affect MM auto DJ or anything else.
It's strange that this only happens with the .28 updates, though.

Do you have art or lyrics auto-lookup enabled?

Re: Auto DJ huge delay with new version
No, I tag my album art manually, with discogs tagger, and I don't tag lyrics. As far as I know, there are no operations on playing tracks other than the default ones MM operates (stat tracking and stuff)
Re: Auto DJ huge delay with new version
Just to help track down the issue, these are the extensions I have on MM:
-Album art tagger
-Batch art finder
-Case and leading zero checker
-Clear field
-Discogs tagger
-Last.fm scrobbler
-Missing album art
-RegExp find and replace
-Tagging inconsistencies
I am using auto-organize, in case that matters. Also folder monitoring.
It might also be relevant that I have installed MM many many years ago and I have only been updating it. I haven't done any clear install since (nor do I really wish to. I have years of stats and dozens of autoplaylists I don't wish to lose) and I have updated Win7 to Win10 about 3-4 months ago.
I regularly maintain the library as well.

Hi,
You can install clean vanilla MM as portable to for example c:\MMTemp and then copy your MM.DB from "C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Appdata\Roaming\MediaMonkey\MM.DB" to "C:\MMTemp\Portable\MM.DB" and see if AutoDJ works faster?
NOTE: Unless you change files itself it will not influence normal MM install at all.

Re: Auto DJ huge delay with new version
That actually gave me an idea to update the version on my work PC. I'm connecting to it via rdp and it has no sound, so it fails to play, but the autoDJ seems to be working pretty fast, about 1-2 seconds (smaller library, about 20k songs)Peke wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2020 7:38 am Hi,

I then tried to install portable version on my PC and copied the DB, set auto DJ and it also takes over a minute.
So next I copied my DB to the work PC and tried it again. It also takes over a minute for auto DJ.
So it seems that the problem lies in the new MM version / my DB combo. Any ideas on how to fix this? Without a clean install?

Have you tried File > Maintain Library with complete optimization checked?

Re: Auto DJ huge delay with new version
Yes. As I said, I regularly maintain the DB, always with:
-Clear virtual CD
-Clear preview
-Rebuild full-text
-Complete
I never select multi-artist albums
I also tried maintaining the DB after updating to new version, but same thing happens

Re: Auto DJ huge delay with new version
Hi,
I would say Install MM5 as Portable (Do not start after install) tell Yes on Import Settings.
After MM5 first start and show tracks, restart and do Manage Database -> Rebuild with Full Text Search it should take a while but then after restart it should be much faster.
If Not we need to see how can you send us copy of your DB in Order to be able to analyze. Thru ticket with download link to Compressed MM5.DB from Portable folder?

Re: Auto DJ huge delay with new version
I don't have any option to import settings. It just asks about folder, then skinning, then installs. And the wizard that opens on first MM run doesn't have any import settings option either.Peke wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2020 5:50 pm Hi,

EDIT: nevermind, I figured out what you meant.
I installed MM portable, copied the DB, opened it and did Maintain Database -> Rebuild with full text and complete. I then restarted MMP and tried auto DJ, but it still takes over a minute.
So, I guess I'll have to open a ticket and send you the DB.
Re: Auto DJ huge delay with new version
I have opened a ticket, thank you for your help. If relevant, I will post more info.
