iTunes 9.2 - MM compatibility (Status: requires 3.2.1+ )

Post by nohitter151 »

Hi,

Itunes 9.2 has been released, as many times in the past, this update brings a lot of changes.

It can cause instability problems for MediaMonkey, especially when iPhone/iPod touch devices are used.

We're currently recommending that you stay at iTunes 9.1 for maximum MediaMonkey compatibility.

The problem has been confirmed and the developers are aware of the problem. A beta release is now available for testing which should stop the crashing, but STILL DOES NOT SUPPORT SYNC FOR iOS4, SEE: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 60#p260351

MM immediately crashes on startup

windows 7 x64

mm 3.2.0.1294

renaming d_iphone.dll and d_ipod.dll allow MM to run without crashing, obviously without itunes/iphone/ipod support.

I made the mistake to update iTunes to 9.2, MM crashed and then tried reinstalling iTunes 9.1.1 (first uninstalled 9.2) but it doesn't work either, MM keeps crashing. I'm using Windows 7 x64 and MM 3.2.0.1294 with an iPod Touch 3G.

Are there any extra steps to be done in order to restore iPod sync with MM.

Thanks!

Try a google search.

Sure, it will allow you to open MM but then you won't be able to see the iPhone in MM.

I am on iTunes 9.1.1.12 and MM 3.2.0.1294
Win7, 64bit
iTouch3g

Same problem as others - as soon as I plug mu iTouch in, MM freezes and even killing the process will not close it. I have to hardboot the PC to recover.

I'm having a similar problem. Installed the latest iTunes, it crashed MM, uninstalled it and deleted the iTunes folder, MM worked, installed iTunes 9.03, MM crashes.

How can I get this darn thing to work so that I can sync my iPhone with MM !?

I've not had to reboot, the process just dies and goes away.

I guess you uninstalled iTunes 9.2 and reinstalled 9.1.1.12 over the top? It's not as simple as that, although it installs as one, there are 5 components which don't uninstall as one. You need to at least uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support as well (I'm pretty sure that's the component that causes the problem) but I just nuked all the components (they're easy to spot if you sort the add/remove programs list by date, they all line up next to each other for obvious reasons)

It's just finished on mine, and that has worked, MM now doesn't crash and can see my touch quite happily again.

I fixed the issue I had (see above) by uninstalling all iTunes components then installing MM 9.1.

I can confirm that this plugin works with iTunes 9.2.

It won't let you sync directly to your iPhone but it's a work around for now.

Hello to all,

I've stopped the Process 'AppleMobileDeviceService.exe' in the Task-Manager (maybe you need Admin-rights to see it).
Then MM started normally.

Tip:
Write a batch file and put this in it (maybe run it as admin):

taskkill /F /IM "AppleMobileDeviceService.exe"
start "" "C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\MediaMonkey.exe"
pause

I hope it work for you :D

I'm sorry for my bad english....

How do you get MM not to crash when connecting the Iphone? If I disable the Apple Mobile Service, MM doesn't crash but Itunes doesn't detect the Iphone.
