MODERATORS: YOU CAN DELETE THIS THREAD - I REALIZE NOW THAT I NEED TO TRY SYNCING A DEVICE WITH THE INCLUDED DRIVERS - NOT A MEMORY CARD.
I am very unfamiliar with media management programs, but I want to buy a digital music player, so I am trying to make playlists in MediaMonkey and sync them to a microSD card to see if I can do it correctly. I tried it tonight - the results are baffling, and I have no idea if there is anything wrong, or if the files/folders are as they should be on the card. If there is something wrong, I don't know what to do about it.
I set the preferences to sync only playlists, to sync them to the root directory of the microSD card, to use m3u8 tags, and to use relative file name paths. I told the program to name the files without the drive listed at the beginning. After syncing, the card now has in the root directory the following items:
- a separate folder labeled with the title of every CD I loaded and included in the playlists; and
- files labeled with the playlist names, but unfortunately there are many duplicate playlist files (with a "-1 after the title); and
- some of the playlist names are not the names I gave to any playlists in MediaMonkey - I don't know where they came from.
My question is: is this the way the files and playlists are supposed to be on the card, to work effectively in a media player? I don't have a media player yet to try this card in, so I cannot know.
If the folders with the CD titles are not supposed to be there, how do I prevent them from being created?
If the duplicate playlists are not supposed to be there, how do I prevent them from being created?
What am I doing wrong with the settings (or something else) before hitting the "auto-sync" button?
Thanks for the help!
