Why are only some of my manually selected media getting to my ipad. After syncing it says some tunes were unable to sync because they are the wrong file type (mp4 IS supported by ipad though), but still a whole load of other tracks are not on my ipad

You can modify (Gold) the Supported Format settings.

I'm not sure I understand your response. Please could you clarify?

for example - say I have 100 mp3's and 20 mpegs. After synching them all to my iphone 6splus, I end up with only 10 mp3's on my device. Most of it doesn't sync regardless. so why do I need to change the format when I still have plenty mp3's that are not transferring.

After all my efforts to install and set up media monkey I still have to go back to bastard itunes to sync music to my device

I'd love it if someone could help me get this to work - you have to commend my determination as i have been battling with this for a few weeks now!

That's taken care of with Supported Formats.
