Melloware, I may have another question about TunesRemote+.

I've noticed two strange things concerning auto-playlists.

First : auto-playlists appear as containing 1 track in TunesRemote+. I don't really care.

Second : I've got an auto-playlist containing over 3.000 songs. When I lauch this playlist, TunesRemote+ says : "No tracks found for this album". When I set this playlist up to 3.000 songs, it works, but, when setting over 3.000 songs, it just randomly works.

Interesting. The first issue is known since an autoplaylist is essentially dynamic I didn't want to slow down the app to go out and find out each auto playlist current record count so I just made it 1 instead of doing all that processing.

The second issue is odd. I don't know what having more or less than 3000 would change the behavior at all but maybe there is some HTTP size limit you are hitting because of that much data trying to be sent to TunesREmote+?? Just a guess though. You would be the first to report that!

I can hardly understand what's happening. I don't think there is some http size limit, because... it sometimes work (but never when the playlist isn't restricted by a number of tracks). :-?

Another thought is the code could be timing out. When the remote sends a request to the server for an AutoPlaylist MonkeyTunes runs the query to gather all the tracks for the autoPlaylist before sending back to the mobile client. Maybe that is taking a little longer sometimes than others and the client times out waiting?

Hmm I will have to try and duplicate the issue here.

Bonjour,

This is a TunesRemote+ issue and not a MonkeyTunes issue. This is the way the original developer Jeff Sharkey had built it. You can report the issue if you want here:

Unfortunately this is a limitation of the difference bewteen iTunes and MediaMonkey. iTunes does not have the same concepts as MediaMonkey with both WAV and MP3 format and the Apple Remote does not display the format either. All of the things in MonkeyTunes/TunesRemote+ are based on the Apple DACP spec so whatever Apple iTunes supports are the things MonkeyTunes/TunesRemote+ supports. There is nothing in DACP about the file format or type being played so there is no way I can display that on TunesRemote+.

Hello Melloware,

Thank you for the answers and valuable information :)

I'll send the note as Jeff Sharkey suggested.

Concerning the display of the file type (mp3 or wav), is it possible to make a suggestion to developers DACP ? If so, where can I do please ?

DACP is created by Apple for iTunes only. We have simply "stolen" their protocol. I don't think Apple will change anything about it considering we are technically in violation by stealing their protocol. :)

Read more here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DACP

The previous protocol DACP is based on is DAAP:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Au ... s_Protocol

None of these protocols are public, all of it was obtained by Reverse Engineering iTunes and packet sniffing network traffic.

Oh well thank you for "borrowed" these protocols.
Good ideas are meant to inspire others
MonkeyTunes TunesRemote + and are useful.
Thank you again.

Hello Melloware,

Few days ago I changed my livebox. And now I get the message "Searching for network libraries ....".
However, I said the ports 3689 and 5353 in the windows firewall (I'm on XP) and also in my livebox.
In MediaMonkey I see MonkeyTunes with the address of the PC associated with it.
I do not know what to do to make it work.
Is this may be related to the physical support of my data? My library MM and my musiques are on a network drive Western Digital.

Thank you in advance for your help because I miss it not to use MonkeyTunes.

My guess is somehow its blocked somewhere else by your router etc. Are you sure both LiveBox and iPhone/Android are on the same WIFI network?

Some routers will not allow traffic between a hardwired (LAN) PC and a WIFI device connected to the same router. So is your Livebox hardwired ethernet to your router? If so that may be the culprit.
