tried it yesterday and seems to find some 70% of the lyrics
for the obscure part of my collection, no problem but also doesn't find some beatles lyrics.
on the other hand, if lyrics aren't available on these servers, lyricator cannot find them.

like the colors too. would be nice to make them change according to the music

bottom line : i'm impressed

is it possible to add another lyrics-website? i thought about http://www.darklyrics.com/ because if you listen to heavy metal/hard rock this is the best site out there in my opinion. i have a bigger collection of older stuff / bands which aren't really famous for the most people and lyricator isn't able to find them...almost 1/4th of the songs don't have lyrics in my database.
it is not a must-do but it would be really nice :D

Cool beans. And can the download link be made a clickable link?

shrodes wrote:Love the new update! So far it's found about 6.8% more lyrics than the old Lyricator :D

Is it possible to get it to not recognise stuff like 'and' in the middle of words. For instance, Ghostland Observatory attempts to match Ghostl Observatory. Can you make it so it only removes stuff like 'the' and 'and' when they are surrounded by whitespace (' the ', ' and ')?
Make that 10% more!

One other thing, is there a reason why it has to write every single file (including ones with lyrics not found), or would it be possible to have it only write those that haven't got a blank lyrics spot?

By "every single file" you mean every track included in the search?

Check again, it should leave unchecked any song for which lyrics were not found on included search sites.

Note: "Shout" and "Caravan of Love" already had lyrics, but were included in search, and not found (image taken from Beta testing).

First of all, thank you very much for this new version, only one detail, there are artists and titles that have characters like á, é, í, ó and ú and I have seen that most of them lyricator can't find the lyrics unless I replace in the title and artistname these characters, is there some way for the srcipt to do it automatically without need to change one by one manually?

Anyway thank you, it works of marvel.

MIght be useful as a future enhancement. Though,... the lyrics sources MAY already have those characters in some fields.

Suggested workaround: for those tracks, COPY the Artist and/or title to the Comment field, or custom fields, then convert the characters in the Artist and Title fields, all using RegExp Search & Replace[1] (another great plug-in). If you use separate custom fields, you could even reverse the changes after saving lyrics in Lyricator.

I would love that too.
I don't know much about this stuff but I guess that the way Darklyrics is designed would cause a problem.
It lists all lyrics for a given album in one and the same html page.

Thank you I found the way to replace the characters without modifying the fields but I don't know if should be correct to post it. I just used the replace function on two sections of the script, one on title and one on artistname.

Kinda. It does leave them unchecked, but when you press save at the end, it goes through Saving x of [all tracks] regardless of whether lyrics were found or not. Just thought you could speed things up a little by only saving ones that have actual lyrics in them.

I'm trying to reproduce now. Basically I did ~3000 tracks at once, got lyrics for ~300 of them successfully. Pressed save and it went through all 3000 of them during saving (or said it did).

Also, another really minor bug (in settings):
Image

Any word on what I'd need to change to only recognise 'and' and 'the' surrounded by whitespace to avoid the 'Ghostl(and) Observatory' type thing?

Just tried this with 17 tracks, found results for 14, I deselected all but 4, and the only ones saved were the 4 left selected. MM flashed its "4 tracks to be tagged" for a moment.

Try with smaller numbers. You should also be able to see updates to files by checking the file properties (MODIFIED DATE). You could also set the archive attribute OFF on files, then perform searches, save a subset, and chck for files with the archive attribute set ... should only be the ones you have checked for saving.
________________

Addendum:

I think I know what you're referring to. A footer in the Lyricator window says "Saving X of Y..." .... apparently it's showing a total count, NOT the tracks actually being updated. You can see in MM that not all files are being edited, only those with lyrics found, AND the checkbox ticked.

You can remove it by doing that... However, each script is different, as some scripts may create more than one vbs file (Lyricator is one of them!). It also wouldn't remove any saved settings, and I'm not fully sure how MediaMonkey handles missing scripts in its reference file (scripts.ini).
Anyway... Short version: MediaMonkey -> Tools -> Extension -> Lyricator -> Uninstall automates it all (and I find it's quicker than going to computer -> C:\-> ...)

heartofhate wrote:it seems that the script isn't able to handle cyrillic letters. this is my only "problem".
This is a known issue:
SquirrelScript wrote:Aborts when UTF-8 characters (e.g. Hebrew) are encountered in ID3 Tags (Artist, Title, etc). Workaround: Edit the tags before running!
I'll try and have a solution for the next release.

Thanks for pointing this out. I'll look into it for the next release.

Yes, as you pointed it out, if its not on servers, it can't be found.
However, I've just done a manual search which has return results for example: AZLyrics and LyricsVIP. So something isn't working right. How are your songs tagged?

Nice idea about the colours - It's something to dream about ;) On that note, if anyone know of any good time-stamped (LRC) lyrics sites - please let me know!

Thanks for the site suggestion. The website structure is different to all the others, however I'll see what I can do ;)
If you know of any other sites that are specialised for a certain genre, please let me know!

Rednroll wrote:what is the best way to uninstall the previous version of lyricator? Do I just delete the older script from my MM "scripts" folder?
Rednroll wrote:Ok sorry.....I'm really feeling stupid right about now. Where is this "Extras" menu item located in MM?
I looked under every menu in my MM and can't find it. I'm currently using MM v3.2.4.1304.
Vyper wrote:Cool beans. And can the download link be made a clickable link?
Thanks for pointing these issues out!
  • How to uninstall (In case anyone missed it: MediaMonkey -> Tools/Extras -> Extension -> Lyricator -> Uninstall.)
I believe that the German? version of MediaMonkey is calls a few things different, for example the "Tools" menu is called "Extras" instead.
I've made the link "Clickable" for you
I've now updated the original post to reflect all of the above.

Please, feel free to PM me or reply with your fix. :)

Sounds like a bug to me! I'll look into it.
It should only update the lyrics which has a tick next to (like davidbspalding screenshot shows), and it only ticks the box if it results a result...
Which sites are you using? Is it the same one? Which songs does it do it to? Or is it every one?

I haven't got a copy of MediaMonkey to hand at the mo, however I think it may say "All Tracks", but it when it comes to a track with no lyrics - it instantly skip over it. I'll look into it (and I'll changed the variable for the next release - so it's not [All Tracks], but [How many it found])

Thanks for the other bug (the one in options), again, I'll try and have a fix for the next release.

Regarding 'and' and 'the' surrounded by white space issue (as well as all the other issues), I'm on Holiday, my laptop doesn't have MediaMonkey or any MP3s so I can't work on it til I'm back home. I'll try and have something out in the new year however.
