Is there a script to update the locations of all my files?

Post by Arijit_Subedi »

I just upgraded my computer but the new computer has a new username. Is there a script I can run that can just swap out the old name for the new names? The play counts of these files are very important to me.

Hi,

Where you put files from OLD PC, have you backed up MM.DB on old PC, do you have access to old PC HDD and have you tried to connect it to new one using external enclosure?

I moved MM.DB over to the computer, and copied the music files over. I have the old HD on an external enclosure, but I want to play the music off of the new HD.

Hi,
When you connect your old HDD in enclosure it should be detected and tracks in MM library should be playable.

HINT if your enclosure is detected as portable device disable it in tools -> options -. Portable devices.

You can use Auto organize to move them off external HDD to new HDD.
or
While MMW is closed use Explorer to copy all files of it to new HDD and then disconnect your HDD -> Select all files from it and use file -> locate moved missing to point to new path on new hdd. The result should be that MMW detect all tracks on new HDD.

Let me know if this is not clear enough.
