REQ: At bottom of File List show amount of files [#10169]

Post by Lowlander »

I like to see the amount of files at the bottom of any file list. This is especially helpful in troubleshooting syncing.

Even you will loose one whole line in listing just to show that?

Yes, it is at the bottom so it doesn't get in the way. It's much easier to have it show how many files are there than having to count a 1000 tracks to see how many failed to sync.

I'm not so sure about this--I'm not keen on using a row for this purpose--especially considering that this data is often presented at the Artist / Album / Playlist level.

One possibility would be to include this in the Artists | Albums | Tracks filters e.g. Artists (3) | Albums (12) | Tracks (63) , but this might appear cluttered.

Any other strong feelings about this?

Agreeing with both lowlander and rusty.

Its needed for double checking the syncs. But would be too big of loss in these small phone screens for it to be on the bottom line.

Would set better in its own button like upnp has.

My understanding was that Lowlander's request was to put the summary at the very end of the list, _not_ always visible, but only visible after scrolling all the way down, right? This way it wouldn't occupy any screen estate.

Yes, it would appear at the bottom of the list and thus only be visible once you scroll down the whole list. Other devices/Apps feature this and I've found it useful when troubleshooting sync issues (it is easy to confirm if all files were synced or not by checking the file count).
