Wifi Sync - Metadata Uploading/Crash

LOG: B96EMTRZUK

Not sure if this is on the Windows or Android side, but when initiating a Wifi sync, Android says, "Uploading(?) metadata to server", and then says "Sync incomplete".

On Windows, a couple of files are tagged, but then the rest are not - in the status bar it says "[x] files to be tagged", and remains as such with the files not being tagged.

Specifically these are rating updates, but presumably will also include playdate/count metadata too.

Thanks.

Both the latest beta and the latest stable on Windows.

1.3.3.0842 On Android.

Many thanks!

I should add that with Windows, I must restart Mediamonkey before I can sync again, otherwise I get the "Since this is your first time..." message on Android, and then the connection is refused.

Log: 835DKZ65PP

I'm still having the same issue - most recent Android beta.

I've tried reinstalling, even have deleted all tracks from Android, and done a clean install. Still no go. On MMW, a few tags appear to be tagged, but what remains is "4 files to be tagged".

Just to let you know I figured out the problem above: I had an auto-playlist, with one of the conditions being that the Year be less than '9999' (I have '9999' set as the year for unknown year releases). Deleting this auto-playlist allowed sync to go ahead with the metadata/playcounts updated as it should.

Sync is working beautifully again now, however, two curious problems have arisen:

I have "Collections" set up for sync - so, for example, my Galaxy S8 is synced with a 'collection' with a certain set of criteria. But the "collections" feature does not seem to like Auto-Playlists at all. As soon as I specify an auto-playlist for the collection (e.g. an autoplaylist of random albums, or an autoplaylist of albums from 2019), MMA never seems to get pass "Initialising". It will however quite happily sync auto-playlists to device if they're selected in "Playlists".

My Galaxy Tab S4 also seems not to register songs as being "synced", either - that is, on AutoPlaylists, they do not appear when the criteria is "Is Synchronized to SM-T835 SD Card". However, when it comes to actual syncing, the device recognises the songs have been downloaded, because it isn't repeating the download.

But these aren't particularly huge problems at all. Neither throw up an error on the latest MMW Debug Version, and I can sync the music I want, so I'm a particularly happy bunny! :D

[If important: have both the latest betas of MMW Gold/MMA Pro].

Thanks again for your great work - it's very much appreciated.

I'm not following this. Playlists can only be selected under Playlists. Do you mean that you set a Collection Criteria to Playlist is... or are you maybe using Magic Nodes?

I do apologise - Collection Criteria made of Auto-Playlists
e.g.

Collection:
"For S8" [visible on the 'Media Tree']

Criteria:
Auto-Playlist - 'Synced to S8' (autoplaylist of songs already synced to S8)
Auto-Playlist - 'Unsynced to S8' (a thousand files selected by random album to be synced to the S8).

Then, on the S8, I select "For S8" collection to be synced, rather than the two auto-playlists above, as they tend to be quite large.

After a bit of digging, however, it seems to be related to specifying a size (in MB) for the auto-playlists ["Show at most..."] and the "Random Album" sort criteria. If I specify the size in files (e.g. 5000), it works fine.

In saying that, I did have the playlist size set quite high - e.g. 80GB with Random Album sorting. Is there perhaps a MB size limit for auto-playlists? E.g., it doesn't play nicely when you specify a figure over a certain number?

Thanks again!

It might be a time-out issue due to size of the sync list.

Ah, I see. There's nothing I can do about that, aside from shortening the list, is that correct?

As I said, no real big issue, but your help is much appreciated.

From you side, yes, it seems you had no issue with a shorter list. Maybe the developers will be able to adjust things based on the log, thus allowing for a larger sync selection.

I think i have the same issue. I try to sync and the screen goes to "preparing dialogue for deletion" or something like that. It hangs a while and then says "debugs have been uploaded".

I'm using the beta/tester version. I simply cannot sync - haven't done so for months.

Which version of MMW are you using and how large is your sync list?
