DLNA not casting to Chromecast

Post by martialartsguy »

Hi there,

I'm trying to avoid my Blu-Ray player for various reasons when streaming videos from my computer, so I set up MM4 to run a DLNA that I can then cast to my Chromecast Ultra. I can play music just fine, but shared videos do not run, no matter what format.

Any settings I need to make sure I have?

I moved the Cache to my SSD, and the max cache size is set at 50000 MB.

DLNA and Chromecast are different technologies. MMW only supports DLNA not Chromecast (yet).

Not even via the MM app? Well, that's a bummer. :(

Which App? MMA or MM8? MMA does support Chromecast.

MMA. I'm sharing via my computer (running MM4), and I tried to cast a movie from my Android on MMA.

I see no information confirming that video casting is supported in the first place from MMA. If it is it likely only supports limited file formats as Chromecast is limited in its capabilities.

I think you're right.

As you're playing from MMW via DLNA you should be able to auto-convert on-the-fly from AVI to a supported format.
