[SOLVED] Ratings not showing on new device

Post by BigPedro »

Hi, I got a new phone and installed MMA and also inserted the SD card with my music library over to it.

MM picked up the music on the card and the playlists and I've granted it permission to the SD Card, so all seems fine.

But when I play songs, the star ratings are all blank (ie: no rating).

I'm concerned that on my next sync back to my PC, it will clear all my ratings.

Can anyone help explain where my ratings have gone, and is there any risk in me losing my ratings on my PC (or will syncing, actually restore my ratings?)

Cheers,
Pete

Hi,
If you manually copied your files to SD card then it is possible that not all tracks would be paired with its equivalent on MMW. The best approach would be to sync over WiFi and see if you get duplicates.

Re Ratings: You can disable sync back rattings from MMA to MMW inside device profile (it is not enabled by default).

Thanks Pavle, It was synced from MMW to the SD Card while the SD Card was in my old device, On my new device, I just installed MM and inserted the SD Card as-is with all the previously synced music on it. It performed a media scan and I can see playlists and all my albums/tracks. It's just the ratings that are missing.

So from what I'm reading, I have to use a WiFi sync and deselect the ratings syncback so the ratings on the PC override the ratings on my device?

Can this be done via cabled sync (I have a lot of tracks, could take a while over WiFi)?

And I assume this means it will sync my entire collection from scratch?

Wow, that's pretty annoying...but thank you so much for the helpful tips...

Cheers,
Pete

Hi, can I get help please? The instructions provided don't match hat I see on my device. Where is this setting found? All I really want to know is, if I sync with my PC, will I lose all my ratings on the PC because on the device, I have no ratings?

Hi,
Setting is found at MediaMokey PC under Tools -> Options -> Portable Devices -> [SELECT DEVICE] -> Configure -> Auto-Sync (--> Library) -> DISABLE Sync Metadata to PC

You can use USB to sync files, but ratings to be synced the best is to use WiFi Sync afterwards as WiFi Sync uses our own protocol to sync metadata instead Microsoft MTP when using USB.

You will not loose Ratings if you disable Metadata sync from Device to PC.

WiFi sync if all the tracks are already synced and paired will not take too much and will not sync whole library again.
