What is the general form and makeup of MM developers?
I a know a bunch of you bought SoundDB way back, but how do you coordinate changes, have meetings, decide how/when to do new features, put them into place, alpha test them, beta test them, etc.?
What's your internal procedure?
And how do you make money out of this beast, or is it only for your pleasure while you work on boring "real" programming jobs in the meantime?
- Tim
ADDED: As I posted below, I'm only asking because I'm a developer and it would be nice to be able to work in a looser, more relaxed fashion and not be tied to a 9-5 desk job. Not nosiness implied nor meant.

What I know:
- Jiri is the creator and main developer of MediaMonkey (formerly SongsDB).
- Rusty is the second developer and I guess he joined the team when SongsDB became MediaMonkey (primarilly a change of name).
- They live on different continents and they use the normal internet communication channels, and obviously also the normal developing practices (bug tracking, wishlist, todo, ...).
What I guess:
- They do it as full-time job (although some other members of the dev team do it as an extra).
- This information is detailed enough.

These sound like the kind of questions an investor might ask. They're probably a little too in depth to be asked on a public forum!
Most of the monkey probably comes from the licensing, plus some from merchanise. So make sure you've bought Gold!

Download my scripts at my own MediaMonkey fansite.
All the code for my website and scripts is safely backed up immediately and for free using Dropbox.

Ha! No, I'm no investor -- just a software developer who wonderers how folks make these kinds of companies work. I generally work regular ol' 9-5 get-up-in-the-morning and go downtown to work kind of jobs, so it would be fun to be able to have something more freestyle. I've also been a software contractor, which allows slightly more freedom, but not much.trixmoto wrote:These sound like the kind of questions an investor might ask. Don't worry, I've bought the Lifetime license.
THAT was why I asked, not to be nosey.

@rovingcowboy
I didn't know that I bought a house in Italy (althru would like to have one) I dev. Plugins for MM few years (from MM 2.0 I think, but using Songs-DB from v1.1 I think) and as fan also find new features (mostly seen thru my utils and additional plugins on my Fan Page), ~6 months as part Main dev. team. like PetrCBR. Now MM team like PetrCBR said count 6 members each devided to do something different.

Looks like Google is doing better than Microsoft (and MM is doing better than Microsoft as well, obvious by the last post!)
