Remote control for MM5

Post by arttee3 »

Wondering if you have considered incorporating remote control access as a part of your upgrade? Currently I use MonkeyMote on an iPad as a remote controller. While this works most of the time, I am experiencing an increased number of hiccups (albums/artists not found) and there have been no updates for a long time. Bringing such a feature into the Media Monkey family would be greatly appreciated.

MM for Android does an excelent work. Not exactly a remote contol but lets you, via UPnP play music from your MM5 acting as a server.

Hi,
MM5 will have WEB remote on same address as UPnP Server (Tools -> Options -> Media Sharing) and will be accessed using http://<YOUR_MM5_IP>:<YOUR_UPNP_SERVER_PORT>/ (eg. http://192.168.1.100:56887/).

ATM it shows only partial UI and it is not functional but planed for future versions.

I know these are quite old threads (this and this) and you are quite busy focusing on getting MM5 released. But while I am hoping and waiting for mmremote's server part to get ported to MM5 compatibility, a simple web remote would be great. I use MM (also) on a media pc playing to my stereo, and I rate songs all the time (UPnP cant do that). play/pause, previous/next song and rating would be enough.

So: any news on the simple web interface? http://<YOUR_MM5_IP>:<YOUR_UPNP_SERVER_PORT> is still not functional here.
Just wanted to make sure: is that still so or did I miss something? Thanks for the status update!

I've been in communication with the MonkeyMote dev and he told me he's working on a new app that will be compatible with MM5.

I uploaded many addons to MM's addon page, but not all of those were created by me. "By drakinite, Submitted by drakinite" means I made it on my own time. "By Ventis Media, Inc., Submitted by drakinite" means it may have been made by me or another MediaMonkey developer, so instead of crediting/thanking me, please thank the team. You can still ask me for support on any of our addons.

When I try that I get

Unexpected end of JSON input

Do we have any idea on a timeframe for this? I'm seriously considering going back to MMW4 over this.

No timeframe for this, but we are investigating. Last time I checked it worked :(

I tried a remote connection from my iPhone 8,( iOS 14.7.1) via Safari to my MM5 right after updating it to v5.0.1.2433, and the moment I connected, MM5 went all white. The MM5 window is resizable and movable, but nothing else would function and MM5 cannot be closed without ending the task with Windows Task Manager.

Doing the same as above before the most recent MM5 update, would not cause any problems. The MM5 interface would appear on my iPhone in all green colors, but it could not do anything. I was hoping the recent MM5 update would give some remote functionality.

I'm running MM5 on Windows 10, 21H1, x64 (KB5005033)

Thanks

Hi,
That is strange it should not crash MM at all, wonder if something blocks MM server and crashed application.

Can you please open support ticket and supply us a debug log with a crash as described at viewtopic.php?f=30&t=86643 ?

I know this thread is old but I get the same error. The moment I access

Code: Select all

http://<YOUR_MM5_IP>:<YOUR_UPNP_SERVER_PORT>
(same for both server and library ports) MM5 will turn all white and needs to be closed with Windows Task Manager. Using Edge and Firefox.

2610 and previous releases for some time now. Same for accessing it through Chrome on Android.
There is no crash report, EurekaLog or entry in DebugView.

You need the debug version of MediaMonkey to get logs in DebugView (step 4b): https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... 30&t=86643

OK so Synology Drive sync kept Dbgview to function properly, again, I had to disable it.

Running the non-debug version, MM5 just freezes with an all white screen when accessing the web interface.
Running the debug version I get an error message, I submitted a log, I get an exception asking to continue or restart, MM5 keeps working, no web interface is being displayed, and DbgView shows this:

Code: Select all
