How can I get media monkey to read the value of my songs's tag for Initial Key of my songs tags? It shows up as a column in windows exporer.
I would really like to sort my songs by their key value. I use a program MIXED IN KEY which writes a custom ID3 tag.
Can someone please help.
Thanks very much,
Michael

I don't believe that MM supports this tag.

There always way to add your custom tags to more common tags and then use MM to own Custom Tags, also if batch tag utility is flexible you could use that util to create MM custom Tag and then import them in MM.
Example file with Tag needed to be imported to MM could be useful.

Do you actually know how to do that.
I'm stuck right now. I have everything mixed in key but i really don't know how to get it in my MM custom list.
is there anybody who can tell me how to do it.
I will send you loveletters (lol)

I'm having this same problem. Even after setting up a custom column it still does not read the 'Initial key' tag from the files. I just end up with a blank column.

The custom tag used by MM is just a custom tag, changing its name only does that - change the name. If MM doesn't support a particular field there is no way to custom-add it into MM. Really the only solution is to use another tagger (eg mp3tag) to batch move the contents of one tag to another one that MediaMonkey can read.

Just to Add - It would be nice to be able to add support for any tag (I use rapid evolution - so theres key, beat intensity and probably one or two others that would be nice to have..)

SUPER BUMP!
If the ID3 tags are scanned why can't this field be displayable? I'm using the MM4 beta, could you guys add this before you've got your RC set and finalized?
Thanks

That won't happen as the strings are locked.

as nohitter said simply use a good tagger (mp3tag f.e.) and format fields mm can read with your needed tagfield.
custom field entries/mappings are long-awaited though.
custom1 tagfield for example
---------------------------
id3 tag > COMMENT SONGS-DB_CUSTOM1
wma tag > usercustom1
mp4/ogg > custom1
